Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Art Espinoza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jackson Mars! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Espinoza has Mars up against the cage in a clinch.
Mars tightens his grip and picks Espinoza up, before dumping him to the ground. Espinoza manages to land in guard. Espinoza is looking to stand up but Mars isn't so interested in that idea. Mars avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Espinoza has his foot on Mars's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mars works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Espinoza wants to stand up but Mars is controlling him. Mars is pushing down on Espinoza's leg trying to pass to half guard. Espinoza is fighting to maintain full guard but Mars has managed to sneak the leg through. Espinoza actively working from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mars throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Espinoza has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mars is on him like a limpet, forcing Espinoza back against the cage. Mars manages to break the clinch.

Espinoza decides to pull guard. Mars avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mars in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Espinoza really is a fat lump.

Espinoza pulls Mars in close to prevent any damage. Mars prevents Espinoza from getting back to his feet. Espinoza pulls Mars in to control the position. Mars wants to control from the top but Espinoza keeps moving. Mars won't allow Espinoza to get back to his feet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Mars looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Espinoza moves into range and clinches up with Mars. Mars breaks from the clinch.
Espinoza is looking to clinch. No joy there for Espinoza, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mars tries to clinch but Espinoza moves out of range. Espinoza shoots for a takedown but Mars saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mars closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Espinoza to the mat! Espinoza manages to get full guard. Espinoza has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Mars has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Espinoza gets control of Mars's arms and successfully pulls guard. Espinoza will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Espinoza wants to get back to his feet but Mars is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Espinoza pulls Mars in close to prevent any damage. Mars slips nicely into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Art Espinoza dominated that round. That's time! Espinoza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mars drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Espinoza manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Mars escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Espinoza has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mars off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. This has been an exciting period of action! Espinoza moves into the clinch.

Espinoza lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Espinoza with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Espinoza connects with a couple of short punches. Espinoza cracks Mars with a solid left hand. Espinoza lands a couple of digs. Espinoza lands a couple of elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Espinoza works over Mars with some ground and pound from guard. Espinoza with a nice head shot there. Espinoza distracts Mars with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Mars working a defensive guard but Espinoza manages to pass into side control anyway.
Espinoza working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Espinoza landing a few strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Espinoza in side control lands a decent elbow. Espinoza connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mars some visible discomfort.
Espinoza is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mars looks calm but he's in trouble here. Espinoza gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mars is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Espinoza lets go of the hold and Mars can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Art Espinoza! Jackson Mars spoke after the fight, saying 'That call was crap I wanna rematch make it happen.'.
