Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack BeatTrain (ranked 4603 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean McCarthy (ranked 4719 p4p, 228 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BeatTrain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McCarthy defends it nicely.
McCarthy keeps the fight on the outside.
McCarthy moves out of range of the body kick.
McCarthy throws a counter combo.
McCarthy keeps the fight on the outside.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

BeatTrain wants to control from the top but McCarthy keeps moving.
McCarthy wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

McCarthy closes the distance and clinches.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McCarthy goes for a takedown in the clinch but BeatTrain prevents it.
McCarthy just leaning against BeatTrain, taking a breather.

McCarthy is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. BeatTrain can't fight it off and eventually McCarthy manages to take the fight to the floor. BeatTrain looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McCarthy wanted to stand there but BeatTrain had control of the position.

McCarthy advances to half guard.
BeatTrain trying to hold on to McCarthy's head to control him but McCarthy postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BeatTrain misses with some strikes from the bottom.
McCarthy stalling.
BeatTrain blocking the ground and pound attempt from McCarthy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McCarthy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McCarthy lands strikes from half guard.
McCarthy wants to stand but BeatTrain has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
BeatTrain is trying to maintain the position but McCarthy is very close to passing his half guard.
BeatTrain regains full guard. Nicely done.
BeatTrain looking to control but McCarthy passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
BeatTrain is looking to improve his position.

BeatTrain shoots in but no luck this time.

McCarthy is trying to hold BeatTrain in close to prevent damage but BeatTrain has managed to pass into half guard.
BeatTrain seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McCarthy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McCarthy tries to kick BeatTrain off but BeatTrain keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
BeatTrain tries to stand and escape but McCarthy is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCarthy tries to get to full guard but BeatTrain has control of the leg.
McCarthy is looking to control BeatTrain's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McCarthy avoid being mounted?

BeatTrain is looking for a kimura but McCarthy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for BeatTrain to get the leverage.
McCarthy wants to control but BeatTrain is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

McCarthy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. BeatTrain tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McCarthy is in BeatTrain's guard.

BeatTrain has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. McCarthy is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

McCarthy passes BeatTrain's left leg - he's now in half guard.
BeatTrain is trying to stand.
BeatTrain wants to control the action here but instead McCarthy manages to pass to full mount!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McCarthy wants to finish this one by submission but BeatTrain is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from McCarthy.
McCarthy avoids the attempt from BeatTrain to control.
Sean McCarthy has got the better of the ground game so far.
McCarthy landing strikes from the mount and BeatTrain is in trouble!

BeatTrain is squirming around, avoiding McCarthy's attempts to control the action.

BeatTrain really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

BeatTrain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
BeatTrain looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
McCarthy is punishing BeatTrain with some ground and pound.
McCarthy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
BeatTrain prevents McCarthy from getting a body triangle.

McCarthy has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, BeatTrain has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

McCarthy looking to break BeatTrain's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. BeatTrain remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise McCarthy will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean McCarthy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


BeatTrain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

BeatTrain tries to keep at a distance but McCarthy has taken the fight into the clinch.
McCarthy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. BeatTrain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from BeatTrain is defended easily by McCarthy.
McCarthy throws a big counter head kick but BeatTrain avoids it with no problem.

McCarthy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from BeatTrain.

McCarthy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
BeatTrain looks to land a body kick but McCarthy moved away.
BeatTrain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
BeatTrain tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCarthy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McCarthy steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

BeatTrain is looking for a triangle but McCarthy pushes his legs off easily.

BeatTrain has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

McCarthy is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

McCarthy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

BeatTrain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McCarthy trying to control but BeatTrain is working from the bottom.
BeatTrain wants to sweep but no luck.

No luck for McCarthy with that takedown attempt.

Well McCarthy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
