Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Shane MacGowan (ranked 1769 p4p, 242 weight class) and Igor Byhenikov (ranked 15945 p4p, 705 weight class). Byhenikov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Harbinger. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 1 losses; Shane MacGowan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 13 losses; Igor Byhenikov!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Byhenikov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in MacGowan's guard.

Byhenikov passes MacGowan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
MacGowan has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Byhenikov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but MacGowan sees it coming and defends easily.

Byhenikov drops back, looking for a kneebar! MacGowan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. MacGowan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from MacGowan!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Byhenikov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Byhenikov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in MacGowan's guard.

MacGowan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Byhenikov defends it easily.
Byhenikov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Byhenikov tries to advance to mount but MacGowan instead regains half guard.
MacGowan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Byhenikov is working away from the top position though.
MacGowan wants to get back to full guard.
Byhenikov is pressing down on MacGowan's thigh, looking to free his foot. MacGowan is holding on for now.
MacGowan is in trouble now - Byhenikov has advanced to mount!

MacGowan stops Byhenikov from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Byhenikov jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… MacGowan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by MacGowan and Byhenikov has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Byhenikov has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Byhenikov is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but MacGowan has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

MacGowan is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Byhenikov gets his way!

Byhenikov looking to break MacGowan's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. MacGowan remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Byhenikov will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
I really don't envy MacGowan right now.

MacGowan is trying to defend against the choke here but Byhenikov has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Byhenikov Tightens the hold and MacGowan taps out furiously! Byhenikov displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
