Barbosa tries to avoid it but Ray manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barbosa to the ground. Barbosa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Barbosa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Despite the aggression on Barbosa's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Ray walks into a stiff left hand from Barbosa. Barbosa lands with a right hand. #CUT2# It looks like Jake Ray has been cut. Jake Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ray misses with a takedown and Barbosa cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Oh Ray is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Barbosa finds Ray's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Ray flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Barbosa lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Ray will be OK.

#R1# Ray looks to throw the jab but Imbula is out of range. Ray connects with a single shot there. Ray takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
#CUT# It looks like Jake Ray has been cut. Ray throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ray. Imbula shrugs it off though. Ray has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Imbula. Imbula connects with a body shot that sends Ray's belly button to the back. Ray has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Imbula.#TD2# Ray closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ray misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Imbula tries to get back to half guard but can't. You can see the frustration on Imbula's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ray lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Imbula down.

Thorsson preventing the sweep. #SUB2# Thorsson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ray looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ray looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ray! #REVR# Thorsson wants to control but Ray postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thorsson is trying to improve his position.#T1# The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Ray seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thorsson for as long as he can get away with.
