#R1##CL# Khan gets tackled into the cage by Sharpe. Sharpe maintains the clinch. Sharpe fails to pull guard.
Khan looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Khan prevents the takedown attempt.
Sharpe pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Khan prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlton Sharpe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sharpe drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Khan tries to circle away but Sharpe has him pinned against the cage. Sharpe misses with some punches.
Khan has had enough of the clinch but Sharpe keeps him there for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Khan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Khan is defending well against a takedown attempt. Sharpe tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Sharpe keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Khan's efforts to push away. Khan is looking to break free of the clinch but Sharpe has double underhooks. #T1# Sharpe has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Khan after a bit of a struggle. #BC2# Khan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Khan misses with a two punch combination.
#KD2# Khan cracks Sharpe with a big right hand and Sharpe goes down!#CUT2# It looks like Carlton Sharpe has been cut. Khan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sharpe is proving hard to escape from. Sharpe wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Khan wants to stand and escape but instead Sharpe has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. #REVR# Sharpe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sharpe is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Khan trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Khan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.#SUB2# Khan looking for subs off his back but Sharpe has passed one foot through into half guard.
Sharpe blocks the strikes from Khan.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!#T2##SUB# Sharpe is working for a kimura but Khan is defending it quite comfortably.
Khan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sharpe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sharpe's back!#SU2# Khan decides to stand up. Khan cracks Sharpe with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Sharpe falls to his knees and Khan doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simoni Khan! Simoni Khan was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
