Fitzpatrick drops down looking for an ankle pick but Alesund pulls his leg out and moves away.
Alesund shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fitzpatrick sprawls well. Fitzpatrick wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alesund gets slowly back to his feet.#TD# Fitzpatrick feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fitzpatrick not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Alesund not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fitzpatrick controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Fitzpatrick sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. Alesund tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gaethe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alesund somewhat. Gaethe with the counter takedown but Alesund avoids it easily. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Alesund holds on and takes a little breather. #SUB# Alesund is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. #ES# Alesund wriggles free and stands up. Alesund closes the distance and clinches up with Gaethe, looking for a takedown. Alesund pushes Gaethe against the cage but Gaethe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Morton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Morton dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Alesund keeps control of Morton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Morton has Alesund pushed against the cage. Alesund is looking to take this one to the mat. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.#TD2# Alesund jumps into guard, dragging Morton to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alesund keeping moving, preventing Morton from controlling successfully. Alesund has a closed guard, preventing Morton from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#T1# Morton engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Morton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Alesund's guard. Alesund keeping full guard, as Morton tries to pass.
