Higgins unleashes a big counter combination but Delgado bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.#CL2# Higgins moves into range and clinches up with Delgado. Higgins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Delgado smiles and moves away.
Higgins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Delgado but Delgado pushes him off and we're back to square one. Higgins closes the distance and clinches up with Delgado, looking for a takedown. Higgins pushes Delgado against the cage but Delgado circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sanford Delgado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Higgins.#CL# Delgado drives through and clinches with Higgins against the cage.

Higgins seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Higgins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Delgado postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Delgado loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Delgado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Higgins being controlled here, momentarily. Delgado got a little sloppy there for a moment and Higgins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! Higgins misses with a takedown attempt - Delgado sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Delgado uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Higgins.

Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Higgins keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Delgado's efforts to push away. Higgins was covering up waiting for the punch and Delgado finishes the takedown easily into guard. Delgado postures up.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Delgado can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sanford Delgado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Delgado throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Higgins works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Higgins looking for a sweep. Not yet Higgins, not yet. #T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Delgado controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Delgado trying to control but Higgins is working from the bottom. Higgins being controlled here, momentarily. Higgins is trying to keep Delgado in close.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Higgins has momentary wrist control but Delgado slips an elbow through the middle. Delgado chips away with some ground and pound. Higgins tries to land a sweep but no joy. Delgado controlling from the top position. Delgado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Higgins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Delgado tries to land a front kick but Higgins steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Higgins throws a counter combo. Higgins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Delgado defends well and Higgins ends up having to push Delgado into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Delgado throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Higgins is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Delgado loads up on a big right hand but Higgins slips the punch. Delgado avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jack Higgins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Delgado pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Higgins goes for a double leg but Delgado avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Delgado continues to drive forward.#CL# Delgado clinches with his opponent.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Higgins is defended easily by Delgado. Delgado is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Higgins can do to turn this around? Delgado misses with a series of wild punches.
