#R1# Ramiro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Maia swivels and escapes. Ramiro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Maia counters with a straight right hand.#TD# Maia darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ramiro is trying to escape back to his feet but Maia uses the scramble to pass into side control.
#ROC# Ramiro is rocked! Ramiro looks winded! Ramiro is still in real trouble! Can Maia finish him?#SUB# Maia is trying to get an arm triangle but Ramiro is defending well. Ramiro seems to have recovered his senses.#SUB# Maia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ramiro is not content to let Maia control the position. #T1# Ramiro sneaks back into half guard. Maia not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. #T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Maia lands strikes from half guard. Maia wants to pass to mount but Ramiro is defending the position. Maia not doing much here.
Ramiro regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Maia. Maia is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.#T3# Maia wants to control from the top but Ramiro keeps moving. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Maia is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. #SU# Maia stands up from guard. Let's bang! #TD# Maia drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ramiro bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maia's guard. #REVB# Maia tries to land a sweep but no joy. #T4# Ramiro tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maia is on top in guard.
#REVR# Ramiro avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maia trying to control but Ramiro is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brandon Maia dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. #R2##TD# Maia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Maia is looking to take a break and control but Ramiro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ramiro is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Maia is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Ramiro tries to hold on but Maia postures up.#SUB# Ramiro tries to control Maia's head but Maia pushes him back down and moves quickly to lock up an arm here - he's swung around for an armbar! Will he get it??? Yes! Ramiro is tapping out! Lovely Jiu Jitsu there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (armbar). Brandon Maia! A less than humble Brandon Maia misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
