A nice left hand lands by Lanka.
#CUT#It looks like Mauricio Payne has been cut. Lanka lands a left hand.
Lanka is working Payne over against the cage. Payne is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Lanka stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Lanka lands with a left to the head. Payne looks winded! Lanka lands a nice uppercut.#ROC#Payne is rocked! A nice right hand lands inside from Lanka. Payne is still on wobbly legs! Can Lanka finish him? The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lanka working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. A shot in the inside from Lanka. Lanka definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. #R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Payne dives in and grabs Broderick 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Broderick pushes down on Payne's head and hops out. Payne looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Payne shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Broderick defends it nicely. Hunter Broderick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Payne. A shot to the liver by Broderick . Beautiful body shot. Payne avoids the body shot from Broderick .
Payne shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Broderick counters with a right hand to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Payne moves forwards but Broderick connects with a nice, crisp jab. Broderick throws a body punch but Payne moves out of range. Despite the aggression on Payne's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Broderick loads up on a big right hand but Payne slips the punch. Broderick throws a hook but Payne avoids it easily. Broderick swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Payne.#T1# Broderick lands a body shot.
Broderick fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Payne looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Payne looks winded! Payne walks into a stiff left hand from Broderick .#ROC#Payne is rocked! Payne looks up at the clock. Bad move! Broderick lands a right hand from hell, dropping Payne. Broderick pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Payne shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boxer pinned against the cage. Boxer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. #CL# Boxer has Payne up against the cage in a clinch.
Boxer lands with a right to the head. #TD# Boxer gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Boxer wants to stand up but Payne has a hold of him and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Payne trying to control here.
Payne might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boxer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.#T1# Boxer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Payne gets back to full guard.
Boxer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Payne lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVB# A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Payne accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Payne tries to stand but Boxer is controlling from the bottom. Boxer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Payne on the ground.#T2# Payne with a flurry of punches that miss. Payne trying to control but Boxer is working from the bottom. Payne throws a big elbow that misses. Payne is looking to stand up but Boxer won't let him. Boxer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Payne. #SUB# Boxer throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Boxer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. #T3# Payne forces his way into half guard. Payne is figuring out what he wants to do next. Boxer is refusing to be controlled, as Payne sits in half guard. #SUB2# Payne seems to be looking for submissions.
Payne wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boxer keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Payne thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boxer's head. #T4# Boxer controlling the position for now. Payne frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Payne postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Boxer looks a forlorn figure.
Payne scoring with strikes but Boxer is staying in there. Payne putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Payne scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Boxer wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Well, with Payne on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Boxer is tapping out... Can he escape the position? The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Payne's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boxer taking a breather here. Payne is looking for a sweep. Payne throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Payne regains half guard. Boxer stops Payne from getting back to his feet.

A head kick misses from Payne. #TD# Boxer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Payne's guard. Payne has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Payne looking to sweep here. No luck so far. #SUB2# Payne is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Boxer has his hands clasped together but Payne extends and breaks Boxer's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Payne.
