#R1# Piper lands a jab. Piper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A little jabbing left from Yan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Piper definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Yan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Yan looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. #CL# Piper closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Piper struggles to land a body shot inside as Yan controls his hands.
Piper prevents a takedown attempt there.
Yan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Piper gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Yan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Piper prevents it.
Peter Piper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wu Tseng Yan. Piper tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Yan's elbow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Piper after a bit of a struggle. #R1##TD2# Yan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dawg's guard. Yan controlling from the top position. Yan told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Yan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dawg is keeping the position for now. #SUB2# Yan has gone for a leg lock! Dawg slips out almost immediately though and dives into Yan's guard.#REVR##SUB2# Yan has his foot on Dawg's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dawg works his way back into a safe position though.#SUB2# Dawg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dawg has managed to get both his arms back between Yan's legs - danger averted. Yan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Herrera tumbling to the mat - Yan dives into Herrera's guard. Yan postures up.
Herrera doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Herrera is trying to keep Yan in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yan postures up in Herrera's guard and throws a big left but Herrera blocks it. Herrera is trying to control the position but Yan postures up. Herrera avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Yan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
