The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.#CL# Smooth clinches up against the cage. Hartwell is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Smooth is defending well. Hartwell has Smooth pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Smooth seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. Smooth controls the action. Smooth has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Hartwell is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Smooth off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. You can see the frustration on Hartwell's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Hartwell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Hartwell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Berkut sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Berkut shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hartwell sprawls well. Hartwell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Berkut gets slowly back to his feet. Hartwell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
