I was talking to Schultz's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Mudo throws a head punch that misses. We've been informed that Mudo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Schultz lands a nice elbow. #CUT#It looks like Toa Mudo has been cut. Schultz comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Schultz lands a body punch. Schultz lands an uppercut. #R1# Orcarm throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kowalski's waist but Kowalski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Orcarm off to one side. Orcarm takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Kowalski throws a jab when Orcarm was well out of range. Kowalski wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Orcarm tries to move into range but Kowalski moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Kowalski connects with the punch.#TD2# Orcarm feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Kowalski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Orcarm's guard. #REVR# This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kowalski lands a couple of digs. Orcarm looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kowalski puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Orcarm blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kowalski. Orcarm on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Smithers wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Smithers throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A telegraphed right hand from Smithers misses the target. Smithers takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Smithers avoids a punch combination nicely.
