Editorial by Its a very difficult to get a hold of a fighter after a bad loss, even harder after his bells been rung. Specially if he is an elite fighter with a power house gym and big time manager behind him. This is Cantrell Willis whose fight two weeks ago against Night Man left him on the mat, after his face connects with Man’s right fist. “Im a bit uncomfortable about asking him some questions, but lets just see where this goes”.
The speed of this kids hands are phenomenal, He is working the mits with such accuracy and lighting flash. His trainer and new strategist K-Rad here from Los Angeles is working on his holes, that were clearly obvious after the last fight. Cantrell glances my way and sees me. He gives a smile and signals just to give him a few minutes to finish his work out.
This intense work out would kill any other fighter but Cantrell handles it like the warrior he is. Cantrell walks over and sits right in front of me. cont... |

Editorial by Our weekly visit to the WASPS NEST (2341) in Las Vegas Nevada, brings us in front of Blackwaters owner manager Jason De Rothschild (69073). It is barely 6am and Jason is getting ready for the day with his usual morning ritual.
With his cup of coffee in hand he turns his computer on and checks his bookmarks.
Jason: I check them every morning (talking about MMA blogs and different sites, like UFC, BJJ, and others) I really like being informed on whats happening in the business and how different fighters are doing and what they are thinking. It gives you the fan or follower an insight into the fighters mind. I really find this eye opening and i usually learn from these things.
Jason: Technology wise I also like checking on the nutrients and martial art sites to see what are available for our fighters and also fight improvements in training. We never cont... |

Remember this day!!!
Tuesday the 8th May 2012. The Pride and Glory Fighting Championship(PGFC) is Launched in London, UK. The promotion has been set up initially to offer an exciting opportunity for young up and coming fighters in the London area. It will initially just be concentrating on the 135, 170 and the 265lb divisions so it doesn't spread it self to thinly. This will also give us plenty of match up options within those divisions, enabling fairer fights.
The promotion will be launching with a 4 man tournament at each weight. This will be held over both PGFC1&2, with 2 semi finals at each weight at PGFC1 with the winners fighting at PGFC2 for the inaugural PGFC titles. Obviously there will be other fights at both events to fill up the card and find some contenders to face the newly crowned kings.
The organisation owner/founder Steve Marley(71914), who is a massive MMA enthusiast told us, "These are exciting times for Pride & Glory, but they are also exciting times for London and MMA as a whole. We are looking at offering an excellent opportunity for fighters with limited experience within this exciting tournament format. We have already had some contact from managers looking into entering fighters for the tournament, but are obviousl looking at signing more."
Stay tuned for more information from this exciting new addition to the MMA world |

Editorial by this week with The WASPS Nests Jason De Rothschild
An old BBJ teacher told me once. "losses that happen in life are just chapters in a book, not the book it self, so rest up and get well." I remember him clearly telling me right after a bad loss, during an early morning talk in his gym right after I got knock out, i felt like the whole world didnt matter and that I was going to give up on the BJJ game . Some times when I think of what he said I still get lost, I always think. I dont know? Sometimes I feel that the chapter is the main part of the book. And my vision is so blurry that I cant really see the end at this moment.
Defeat, and getting knocked out, and disappointment, and anger, and fear. I just feel like Im swimming in all of it. I just cant see it now I guess. But it feels like the things that happened are the whole story of the book to me. It makes no sense now, But I hope that somewhere in all of this there’s a reason. An answer to why. A conclusion. Or perhaps there’s a guy out there that can paint me a picture that explain why these things happen to people and I can hang it on my wall. I dont know? All I know is that nothing, not getting angry, not giving up on the game, not drugs, and not tears. Nothing. Nothing can really make something that has already happened, not happen.
And that's when I figured out that all these emotions, anger, fear, disappointment, and depression cant undo a major loss. Or make a wrong move, a right step. They cant pay the bills, or make your broken jaw go away. Or even pass a class. But we all still go through this. And I dont now why, but I dont mind it at all. I think I’ve been in this pool of emotions so much lately, that I’ve burned my self out. And I dont care. cont...

Life has not been easy for Humberto Manuel Arbodleda. He has a disorder known as hypertrichosis, which causes him to grow excess hair all over his face and body. Humberto was abandoned as a boy by his family who were horrified of his appearance. He tried begging for money on the streets of Leticia Colombia, but eventually retreated into the jungle where he managed to befriend several wild dogs. He spent 10 years with the dogs, eventually attaining the rank of pack leader. Eventually Humberto was discovered while urinating on a pole by a Muy Thai gym in neighboring Brazil. The gym owner, Pedro Silva, an advid dog lover, took Humberto in and traind him in Portuguese and Muy Thai. Humberto spent 4 years training with Silva, until Silva got a job offer in Toronto which he accepted. He set Humberto up in an amateur mma promotion, where he has spent a little over a year. Humberto got signed to Dog Pound Elite Fighting (ironically) and is set to make his pro debut against Shinji Tanaka at DPEF -3 in New York at The Underground on 5/12. Humberto is reportedly happy to be making his debut and hopes to increase awareness of hypertrichosis around the globe with his new found fame. |
