Hello everyone “Sunshine” Weston Markson here to discuss HMMA 45 with Rudy “The Box” Knife. This card is headlined by HoF fighter Liam Machin, and Scott Lewis. There are a lot of great fighters that will enter the cage on Sunday the 2nd of December to see if they can improve their stock in their respective divisions.
Rudy: Weston this card has a lot of great fights against some up and comers and some guys looking to get their career back on track. Im really looking forward to seeing Hall of Fame fighter Liam Machin give Scott Lewis his toughest test and seeing If he can improve upon his impressive streak and rise to the top. Im also really looking forward to Tommy Farr and Bob Banks, and Cortega v Kirijenko.
MAIN EVENT
Scott Lewis (7-1) v Liam Machin (8-4)
Weston: Six months ago the 2-1 Scott Lewis stepped into the HMMA cage to silence the critics since then Lewis has won 5 straight fights moving to an impressive 7-1 and finding himself sitting at the top of the Lightweight Division. Now comes his toughest test, a guy with the resume and name recognition to make Lewis a star, the Hall of Fame fighter Liam Machin. Machin also a former champion has been splitting wins and losses as of late but after a good win against a solid challenge he finds himself in a position to end the meteoric rise of Lewis and start another win streak that could land him amongst the top of the division in the future.
Rudy: Both of these guys are dangerous and have a history of not letting the judges decide the fights 13 out of the 15 wins between the two fighters have been finished although the methods vary. Lewis is primarily a ground fighter who will no doubt work his ground game and try and come up with a submission, while Machin is a KO artist his power and boxing ability will be on display as he tries to put Lewis to sleep and become the first man to ever beat Lewis by stoppage. This fight has potential to be fight of the year I expect an all out war between two guys who will leave it all in the cage.
Prediction: The streak of Lewis or the credentials of Machin… can Lewis take a step up? Ill predict that this fight does not go to decision.
CO-MAIN EVENT
Lyov Kirijenko (15-12) v Martez Cortega (7-3)
Weston: The CO-MAIN event of the night brings to us a light-heavyweight fight between two guys who have had a taste of big fights, both of these men are entering this contest with a loss in their most recent fight, both look for a win to get back on track. This fight could impact the top 10 of the division and eventually with a couple more wins send the winner to a title shot, for Cortega it would be a second chance. Despite being a misleading 1-3 in HMMA Cortega is always a threat to put together a few solid wins and find himself in contention his only losses have been to top ten talent. Kirijenko is one of those guys who every opponent fears, they know he is always game to come in there and get the win.
Rudy: When Kirijenko enters the cage I full on expect him to use his ground advantage to win this fight, but Cortega will have something different in mind he will have a striking advantage and will plan on using it to get the (t)KO victory. One thing to keep in mind in this fight is that Kirijenko has a big experience advantage with over twice the amount of fights as Cortega he could possibly capitalize here.
Prediction: Toss up Kirijenko by GNP or Submission.
MAIN CARD
George Oven (9-6-2) v Mongo Mongo (12-9-1)
Weston: The next fight is a middleweight fight between two guys who have yet to get a taste of victory in the HMMA cage. Now one is assured to come out with their first win in HMMA and hopefully make a move forward. George Oven came to HMMA with high expectations taking on two guys who are ranked in the top 5 of the division there Is no shame in experiences a small setback like that against the level of competition he has endured so far. When Mongo steps into the cage Sunday he will also be looking to get his first win in HMMA, after suffering defeat in his first outing also against a top ten ranked talent. Moving forward both of these guys have the ability and opportunities to make a run in the division and it could very well start right here with this fight.
Rudy: Weston both of these guys have solid all around skills, but both of them are KO artists 16 wins between the two of them have come by (t)KO. Both of these guys have the ability to end the fight quickly one thing to note is Mongo Mongo has a great chin, but he has been cut up in the past and unfortunately has lost 6 fights by cut, while Oven has one win by cut this could very well be the outcome. I expect this fight to be a bloody battle between two guys who want that first win.
Prediction: I think Mongo takes this one after getting bloodied and battered he lands a desperation KO.
Black Belt (4-2) v Harry Sachs (5-2)
Weston: When I think of things that go together I think of my Black Belt holding up my pants so my Harry “Sach” isn’t showing to the world. Sunday we get to see who wins the battle between a belt and some giant harry balls when the two cum into the cage and beat the shit out of each other! The last time we saw Sachs in the cage was in a losing effort 3 months ago after a period of training now he is ready to come back stronger then ever and in an odd way gets a shot at avenging his last loss. That’s because the man he lost to is Black Belts most recent win! This fight is going to be interesting and the winner will move up in the division.
Rudy: Dear Weston, your history as a grappler should interest you in this fight, these two guys are well versed in the art of getting the fight to the ground and working there ground game for submissions and GNP. These two fighters are very similar, they are similar in ID, skills, fights, wins, losses, and in the way they like to finish fights. This could be one of the best ground battles all year! Whether these guys are on top or bottom both will be going all out on the ground.
Prediction: I think black belt takes this one by decision. I expect a stalemate on the ground and for Black Belt to be on the top winning mostly by position.
Tommy Farr (16-8) v Bob Banks (3-3)
Weston: The next fight on the card is between two light heavyweight fighters who both came up short of getting a victory the last time out. Now both get an opportunity to write the wrongs and get a win. When Tommy Farr comes to fight you know you are going to get a crazy battle as he does what he does and swings for the fences, Banks also a guy who likes to brawl having won all of his fights by (t)KO. Out of 19 wins between the two of these men 15 have come by (t)KO. On Sunday I cant wait to see this fight as im pretty sure someone is getting there head removed.
Rudy: YES! This fight is going to be a great back and forth stand up battle both guys will come in and look for the KO this being my own personal fight style im very interested in seeing how this fight turns out. I will say don’t be surprised if Banks takes this fight to the ground and works his GNP he has been successful with it in the past and this could be an opportunity if the striking is not going his way.
Prediction: First to land gets the win.
Meg Didion (1-1) v Solomon Holland (3-0)
Weston: The first fight on the main card is a middleweight fight between to young up and comers in Solomon Holland and Meg Didion. Holland has been ultra successful in his short career, a company man that everyone including the fans love to see fight. He comes into this fight undefeated and having looked phenomenal against really good fighters with the hype building around him and the support of the fans this fighter is looking to remain undefeated and get his fourth win. Didion also a company girl comes into this fight looking really good after a win in her last outing. Meg looked great in her last fight winning by KO against a very good striker, now she takes a step up in competition and looks to move forward and one day be a possible contender at middleweight. Holland better bring his A game because this “chick” will be looking to send him to sleep. Now Rudy I know you are pumped for this fight because I think you may have a little crush on cool girl Meg so take it away bro!
Rudy: Weston ill admit I admire Meg Didions talent and desire to fight the gentlemen of HMMA. She has looked really solid in her fights so far and this is a great fight between two fighters without much experience this fight should tell us a lot about the futures of both fighters. I expect Holland to try and mix things up being an all-around fighter. Didion will try and keep this fight standing as Holland has shown a very slick ground game so far in his young career lets see this fight already im excited!
PRELIMS
Weston: The Prelims of HMMA 45 have some fun matchups and could lead to some great fights for the fans, The fights include 3 HW fights one between the Nasri’s, one between Bosko Baltic and Michael Knight, and one between Marsellus Wallace and Jon Marshall, all of these fights are between guys looking to move up in the division standings and gain some rank, we could very well see the winners fighting each other down the road. The fourth fight on the preliminary card is a 205lbs fight between two guys who have not had a lot of success as of late Yuri CoxX and Trip Kenzie both have been on the wrong end of fights lately but now one of them WILL WIN and this could be the restart needed to get one or even both of them back on track.
Rudy: Out of the prelims the fight I most look forward to is the first fight on the card, the Trip Kenzie and Yuri CoxX fight, one of these guys will get a much deserved long overdue win. I also think the Nasri bros will be a cool fight for bragging rights between the Nasri’s
Brock Nasri v Samir Nasri
Bosko Baltic v Michael Knight
Marsellus Wallace v Jon Marshall
Yuri CoxX v Trip Kenzie
