INY Musings 135lb to 155lb Divisions

135 Division – ID Restricted 190K

The 135 title picture comes clearer next week with Escobar meeting Parasca, and McLaren fighting Peterson for a shot at the title. Though a Peterson win (he hasn’t committed his future to the INY) would leave an opportunity for any one of a number of fighters to face Escobar or Parasca for the gold.

Look for Kikovic to quickly become a force, and Sheldon though he has faced tough opposition early doors, looks to have some fine attributes.

With so little known about the fighters in this division, it augers well for lesser established managers getting title shots in 2013.

145 Division – ID Restricted 170K

Mac Jackson became the successor to Nick Shields’ 145lb crown by beating Gallagher and then Washington for the title, and he now defends his title in a rematch with Gallagher on Jan 12. Gallagher earned his shot by besting the streaking Chuck Norris.  Shields is set to return, and a fight with Washington awaits, however an interesting fight on January 11 is Ankutse 7-4 versus the streaking Skull Crash who has won 5 straight. Hawkins meets Magaba on  Jan 11 also, so all the current contenders are meeting up, which is a credit to fearless managers in a young and exciting division.

At 155lb Van Kirkland gets to avenge his latest shock defeat when he rematches Glenn Wauler for the World Title in January 2013. Congratulations to Wauler who firmly put Huxley back to contender status while confirming to MMA pundits that he himself is no paper champ.

Huxley has been in negotiation about fighting Sandoval, with agreement on INY 57 the likely outcome, however quick to sign was Corey Smith who is delighted to headline the card in his fight against young starlet Knowshon Zavier. Smith vs Zavier is one to watch out for on Jan 11. A quality match up on Jan 5 is the resurgent Lupe Pintor fighting the talented and experienced Fo Dayz, with the winner likely to challenge the winner of the Vladdy vs Wauler title fight.

More great match ups to look forward to are the slugfest between Saunders and Butcher, both from completely fearless camps, and Wellman Jnr trying to fend off another highly talented youngster in Brock Landers. Landers from the Clowns Killers camp is developing nicely and a win over the always willing Wellman Jnr would look good on his CV. Doing it will be a lot tougher than talking about it though.

One to watch in 2013 is Mike Ross 3-0 he is young but he is well trained and could be looking to challenge the older guys very soon.

Another prospect to debut in the INY in January is Solomon Villon who should make an impression very quickly, and he will be delighted that the Beast of the East has signed his contract for their Jan 11 match up.

Finally rumors of Van Kirkland become the 2nd entrant into the esteemed Immortals Hall of Fame, are, we can confirm now true. The great Vladdy Van Kirkland, will be immortalized on Dec 31 2012, congratulations to Vladdy and the Mike Melton Camp.
