Hello everyone “Sunshine” Weston Markson here, along with Rudy “The Box” Knife. This weekend HMMA invades London once again when 40….yes 40 fighters step inside the HMMA cage and do battle to determine who the better men are. There are a lot of fights to be excited about I am most looking forward to the HMMA 54 main event, Brutaali Keijo v Juho Pennanen.
Rudy: “Sunnnnnshine”……”Sunnnnnnshine”…….SUNNNNSHINE!!!
This weekend 40 fighters are testing their skill with the two cards over the weekend, the first is HMMA 53 on Saturday, and the second is HMMA 54 on Sunday. Both cards have interesting fights that will further show where each fighter stands in their division. Although I believe all the fights are going to be great im looking forward to seeing Seany Scholes v Tony Jaa its one of my early favorites.
MAIN EVENTS
HMMA 53
Stephan Walter (11-7) v "Smartest man in MMA" Isaac Newton (11-3)
Weston: The main event of HMMA 53 brings to us a welterweight rematch between two veterans in the middle of the division looking to find their way to the top. Walter is on a three fight win streak and 3-1 since joining HMMA with his only loss coming to the man he faces Saturday will he be able to get his revenge and defeat the only man to best him in a HMMA cage? Newton was once on the track to make a real name for himself in HMMA but recently has had a string of bad luck while alternating wins. Newton now stands at 3-2 and looks to prove the first match between Walter and Newton was no fluke.
Rudy: Weston this fight is going to be very interesting and very important for both fighters. Walter is on a nice winning streak which he has showcased his well-rounded skills and killer instinct. Walter has only once won a decision so his other 10 wins have been finishes 6 by TKO and 4 by submission, but Saturday if he wants to be successful he shouldn’t test his luck with the “Smartest man in MMA” on the ground. Newton is a submission artist, with 10 wins by submission strangely 6 out of the 10 submissions on his record have come by Kimura. Saturday Newton will be looking for another submission win and possibly another kimura to his record.
Prediction: If the fight stays standing Walter keeps rolling on, if Newton gets it to the ground he wins.
HMMA 54
"Peltosaaren Teurastaja" Brutaali Keijo (12-9-1) v Juho Pennanen (12-7-1)
Weston: The main event of HMMA 54 is a rematch of a fight that happened in December between Brutaali Keijo and Juho Pennanen. The first time these two made war in the cage resulted in a back and forth affair that ended in a draw. Both fighters being disappointed and wanting to know who was the better decided a rematch was needed now both fighters will look to prove they are not only the better fighter but should have won the first fight as well.
Rudy: This is a big fight between two top ten fighters in the welterweight division. Both fighters are well rounded but one would give a slight advantage to Keijo on the ground and Pennanen standing but just by the smallest of margins it will be interesting to see if Keijo attempts to use his advantage on the ground or if he will just look for the knockout standing. Where ever the fight takes place im sure both men will be looking to finish the other and avoid another draw.
Prediction: I think Keijo takes it this time around.
CO-MAIN EVENTS
HMMA 53
“All-American” Jaykke Wheaton (9-9) v “The Big Bear” Jong Bak (6-8)
Weston: The co-main event of HMMA 53 is a heavyweight fight, between Jaykke Wheaton and Jong Bak. Last we saw both Wheaton and Bak they were on the losing end of their fights after winning two straight. Now both guys will look to advance past the middle of the pack in the talented heavyweight division and start another winning streak eventually resulting in an opportunity at a title. Who gets back on track and who makes it two straight losses?
Rudy: This fight is going to be sweet two big men going into the middle of the cage with very similar well rounded skill sets and throwing down to see who has the bigger balls. Both of these fighters have killer instinct they have both never won a decision, and Wheaton has never had a fight go to the judges win lose or draw, he also in his 18 fight career only been out of the 1st round five times winning 4 of those.. I look for him to come out and try to finish the fight as quickly as possible, Bak will look to do the same and in his 14 fight carrer has only been out of the 1st round 4 times! Saturday both of these men will look to get out of the cage as quickly as possible in what could become a fight of the year.
Prediction: I think Wheaton wins this one by TKO
HMMA 54
"YoungBlood" Stefol Czarnecki (15-7-1) v "Abomination!" Emil Blonksy (12-11)
Weston: HMMA 54’s CO-MAIN event is a heavyweight brawl between two fighters who love punching people in the face. Not long ago Stefol was in the top 10 of the division and looking like a potential contender and force to be reckoned with, but two straight decision losses have equated in a setback for the hard hitter. Blonsky has had an up and down career to this point in HMMA having won 3 and lost 4 fights, he too at one point was putting together a solid streak gaining steam and looking to get into the upper echelon of the division but he also has suffered recent setbacks. Now one of these two get back on track and one falls further in the standings, so who wants It more?
Rudy: This is going to be a brawl. Neither man are particularly skilled on the ground so I can expect both will stick to their strengths and look to land that fight ending strike, 19 out of the 27 combined wins have been by (T)KO, both tend to look to wear down their opponent with strikes and later in the fight after the damage has taken effect get the (t)KO. Here is to a great brawl *cheers*
Prediction: I think either fighter can win but I feel my gut telling me Czarnecki wins.
