NGF 35 Preview

MAIN CARD

Main Event

Bantamweight Title Fight

#2 Arthur Pirozhkov (9-2, 7-2 NGF) v #1 Boris Yurinov (5-2, 3-2 NGF)

The third fight between these two will break the 1-1 tie.  Arhur Pirozhkov will look to regain the bantamweight belt against Boris Yurinov.  These two have had 2 epic battles, in their first meeting at NGF 17, Yurinov was dominating the fight, pounding Pirozhkov, but Arthur was able to lock in a Kimura late in the 5th round.  In the 2nd it was much the same, although Pirozhkov was able to do some ground and pounding, but Boris was able to get the unanimous decision.  This one will sure to be another outstanding fight.  Boris can win this if he stays off the mat; he has to keep it standing where Pirozhkov does little.  I can’t wait for this one!   PREDICTION:  Yurinov decision

Co-Main Event:

Bantamweight Fight

#4 Harald Andersson (4-0, 3-0 NGF) v #3 Lutz Knitter (11-4, 2-2 NGF)

A fantastic bantamweight fight that will most likely determine the next #1 contender.  Harald Andersson has not fought since NGF 24 on November 10th.  He’s young, he’s brash, and he’s a killer!  A wonderful boxer who likes to stand and bang.  He has very good defensive submission skills, so when he does get to the mat he is very calm and collected.  Lutz Knitter is the more seasoned fighter; he has as many losses as Andersson has fights.  Knitter will stand and throw with anyone, but he can be a deadly fighter in the clinch.  His last two fights have been against Arthur Pirozhkov and he’s 1-1.  I think this could be a FOTN candidate, these two love to stand and fight.   PREDICTION:  Andersson 3rd round TKO

Heavyweight Fight

#4 Polish Engineer (7-3, 2-0 NGF) v #3 Rinky Spider (5-0, 3-0 NGF)

This fight will probably get us the next title contender.  I can’t wait for this one; seriously, this is one of those fights where you might pay the $150 ticket just to watch this one.  Two of the top fighters in all of the NGF, two young guns that love to throw bombs and end fights.  Polish Engineer, a sensational boxer has 6 T(KO) wins in his career.  He is a very well rounded fighter who comes with a game plan, he’ll adapt it based on the fighter, which always makes him unpredictable.  His last fight he spent most of the fight on the mat, pounding out a win over Bob Probert.  Rinky Spider is simply a beast and, hell, he scares me.  3 of his 5 career fights haven’t made it past 1:00 of the 1st round.  He’ll look for a KO right from the bell.  He has 4 KO wins, 2 KOTN awards, one of them was a head kick back at FN 6.  These two guys are good at all areas, I would think Engineer may have a slight advantage if this stays standing, while Spider might want to take this to the mat.  PREDICTION:  Spider 2nd round TKO

Heavyweight Fight

#13 Andrew Golota (8-3, 3-1 NGF) v #7 Tweek Sanguine (7-2, 3-2 NGF)

This stacked main card continues with two fighters wanting to continue their winning ways.  Andrew Golota is a very talented guy with sensational boxing.  He has very good KO power, but he can pick apart fighters and take a decision too.  He is coming off a FOTN fight vs David Abbott Jr. at NGF 31.  He showed his good chin and his ability to stay calm and overcome being beaten up on the ground.  Tweek Sanquine will try to make it 3 in a row, 3 submission wins in a row and move into the top 5 in the division.  He is a pure BJJ fighter; he will only look for take downs and submissions.  He is deadly on the mat, he has 5 submission wins.  Sanquine is so good at BJJ, he will let himself get to the mat any way he can, he rarely throws a strike standing up, but if the fight gets on the mat, it’s usually over.  His style isn’t the most exciting, but it works for him.  Andrew really has to do everything in his power to stay standing.  PREDICTION:  Golota 2nd round KO

Welterweight Fight

#5 Zbigniew Mlotek (9-3, 2-1 NGF) v #6 Razor Bush (8-5-1, 3-1 NGF)

Zbigniew Mlotek lost his welterweight belt at NGF 30 about a month ago.  He was exposed in that fight, he showed he had some defensive holes in his game.  He is well rounded, but not a stand out in any area.  Razor Bush has a distinct advantage in wrestling and BJJ.  He loves to get the fight to the mat where he has some of the best ground and pound skills.  He will certainly not want this fight standing, he has very little stand up skill.  Mlotek does have good defensive take down skills, but they will be tested in this one.  PREDICTION:  Bush 2nd round submission

 PRELIM CARD

Super Heavyweight Fight

#4 Iury Sinistrov (6-4, 2-1 NGF) v #7 Sergei Svetlakov (5-2, 1-1 NGF)

Two fighters who are looking to get back on the winning trail.  Iury Sinistrov lost to David Miller at NGF 31 while Sergei Svetlakov lost to “Dumb Name” at NGF 31.  Sinistrov has major power, he can end a fight by turning a 250 lb man into a rag doll or he can open up cuts with quick jabs.  Sergei Svetlakov also has major power, he has 3 KO wins in his career.  Here’s the thing, he’s a BJJ black belt also, so if he doesn’t KO you, he can choke you out instead.  Sergei doesn’t have great wrestling skills, he often misses take downs and his ground and pound is almost non exsistent.  Sinistrov has better Muay Thai and wrestling skills, but he is no match on the mat.  I love this matchup, it’s going to be great!     PREDICTION:  Sinistrov 2nd round TKO

Middleweight Fight

#9 Alpha Male (9-6, 3-4 NGF) v #8 Jambo Alvez (9-4, 3-1 NGF)

This is a very even matchup, one that I think could go either way.  Alpha Male has fallen and fallen hard.  He has lost 3 straight fights, 2 by decision.  These two did face off at NGF 25 where Alvez got the majority decision win.  That fight has a lot of time spent on the ground, where Alvez dominated.  These two are both really good stand up fighters, but Alvez holds the advantage at wrestling and his purple belt bjj skills.  I like to think that Male’s camp is correct when they say this has been his best camp and he’s so ready to go.   PREDICTION:  Male 3rd round TKO

Welterweight Fight

#25 Pavel Petrov (4-4, 0-2 NGF) v #10 Dmitry Timonyn (8-6, 3-3 NGF)

Pavel Petrov still looking for his 1st NGF win will take on a very tough fighter to try and do it.  Petrov is a very powerful puncher, he loves to stand toe to toe, his problem is he has a very low strike land percentage.  At NGF 27 vs Carlos Rey, Petrov landed just 13-75 strikes.  He does have a brown belt and better wrestling skills then Timonyn, so that might be where he wants this fight to go.  Dmitry Timonyn has 4 T(KO), 1 sub and 3 decision wins, so he can adapt his game well.  A former champion, he lost his belt at NGF 25 to Zbigniew Mlotek.  Dmitry has great footwork, he’s quick and he has amazing combinations.  He doesn’t go for the big punch KO, but he’ll throw all sorts of different combinations.  I like Petrov’s chances if he can get this fight to the ground.   PREDICTION:  Petrov decision

Super Heavyweight Fight

#8 Gerold Hightower (4-2, 2-2 NGF) v #17 Kriztov The Yeti (9-11, 1-3 NGF)

Gerold Hightower will try and make it 2 in a row vs Kriztov The Yeti.  Hightower won by TKO over The Yeti at FN 11.  Hightower  has no stand up game, surprising for a big man, but will not stand and bang, he will go for a take down, if he gets it he will out wrestle and look for submissions.  The Yeti has a brown belt in bjj, but he is too predictable.  He doesn’t look like he can surprise anyone; he comes in with the same game plan each time, and its showing.  He also has a more serious problem, he looks as if he cuts very easily, he’s had 4 fights stopped due to cuts, including 3 of his last 3 losses.  I think Hightower is a little hungrier right now and I think he’ll take this one.  PREDICTION:  Hightower 1st round submission

Featherweight Fight

#6 Karl King (1-0 NGF) v #14 Kamryn Black (4-4, 1-1 NGF)

Two up and comers in the featherweight division square off.  Just 20 and 21 years old, Karl King and Kamryn Black are the young guns that are moving up the ranks.  King won his NGF debut vs Uriah Gorsky at FN 12 with a unanimous decision.  In that win he was able to defend 30 submission attempts, that’s right, 30 attempts!  The judges saw past the ridiculous game plan from Gorsky and saw that King did more damage.  Black quickly disposed of Black Morgan in his last fight at FN 12 with an arm triangle.  He likes to work on the ground a lot more then King.  He has a purple belt and strong wrestling skills, so he looks to get the fight down quickly.  These two young guys should put on a good opening fight of this card.   PREDICTION:  King decision
