Hi folks, our new recruitment manager, Rory Daly, has decided to write up a preview for our event WP 8 - The Rising, check it out on our smack talk thread but here it is anyway :

WP 8 – The Rising

Greetings Wolf Palace contenders, this is the WP8-The Rising Preview and predictions. Good luck to all fighting in this exciting event; we are still in the early stages of the org so these starting events are crucial for each fighter to prove themselves and climb the ladder to achieve what every fighter aims for! Here we go:

Zdeno Chara vs Marc Kro Kop

Chara, a boxer and BJJ fighter is 4-2 with not one fight going past the first round and not one fight that didn’t end in a KO/TKO; He gets in the cage to get the knockout or get knocked out thus far – no doubt an entertaining fighter! Then we have Kro Kop a muay thai and wrestler fighter with a record of 6-2, another entertaining fighter with all but 2 fights ending in KO/TKO. Both have good stand up and ground game but with opposing styles, and I imagine the winner of this fight will be a worthy challenger to kick the title holder off his throne!

Prediction: Kro Kop via TKO.

Brynden Tully vs Thenn Magnar

Tully a boxer/wrestler holding a record of 5-1 I think will be looking to take it to the ground and get a sub with his slightly superior BJJ than his opponent. Tully has more fighting experience than Magnar even though he is the younger of the two. Magnar has a very slight boxing and wrestling advantage so this could certainly go either way.

Prediction: Tully via submission.

Jon Snow Junior vs Walter Alexander Zelaya

Jon Snow Junior has the boxing, wrestling and BJJ advantage with a record of 2-1 so he will be looking to strike at distance and take down Zelaya when he can, because Zelaya has great Muay Thai skills and if Junior gets locked up in the clinch with Zelaya I think its safe to say he is in for a rough time and will be heading to the hospital for numerous stitches. Zelaya appears to be one dimensional but if he can pull off his game plan he will get the W. If not then I recon Junior will submit him.

Prediction: I am struggling here but I’m gonna say Junior by submission.

Richard Skinner vs Tyrese Banks

Skinner is 2-0 and only really has his boxing to show off, which he has done with 2 KO’s in the QFC. However, Tyrese Banks (Who is my fighter!) has equally matched boxing skills and a big BJJ advantage over Skinner. I would imagine that Skinner will be coming out all guns blazing lookin for an early KO over Banks. Banks should be happy to stand and bang with Skinner but if he is sensible he will be looking for the takedown and go on to sub his opponent, with 5 subs (all targeting the opponents arm!), although saying that he is very confident in his boxing as well.

Prediciton: Trying not to be biased but Banks via submission.

Blake Perry vs James Gaston

Blake Perry 0-2 has been unimpressive in his previous fights , losing by KO/TKO in the first round in both, he will desperately be lookin for the takedown against Gaston who has a massive boxing advantage and a TKO victory in his first fight, which took place in yours truly, Wolf Palace. With Gaston’s boxing and KO ability and Perry’s noticeably glass jaw, I think Gaston has the advantage in this bout, unless of course Perry gets the takedown but judging from his previous fights I personally think it’s unlikely.

Prediction: Gaston by brutal KO. But let’s see if Perry silences me and pulls of his first win!

Abdellah Fekar vs Jeff Hardy

Fekar, 2-1 will be heading into this fight with confidence I would imagine with a significant boxing and BJJ advantage with just a slight disadvantage with his wrestling. Hardy with a record of 2-4 has the muay thai and a slight wrestling advantage will look to clinch and perhaps take it to the floor as long as he isn’t on his back otherwise I sense a sub coming.

Prediction: Fekar via TKO.

Wes Shields vs Karlos Vemola

Shields, 1-1 is average at all aspects of martial arts and Vemola, 5-4 matching Shields’ BJJ with the boxing and wrestling advantage will be looking for the KO. Vemola with his age advantage, fight experience and superior boxing and wrestling will take the win, I believe.

Prediction: Vemola via KO.

TJ Machida vs Mitchell Guzman

TJ Macida will be looking to improve his record of 1-6 with his stand-up advantage over Guzman, but perhaps easier said than done. Guzman is another fighter who has average at best overall fighting skills. Its either gonna turn out with a KO from Machida or a sub from Guzman.

Prediction: Guzman via Submission.

That’s all for this event! Cheers lads.
