Once again, a stacked card full of great fights that will no doubt entertain all the fans in attendance. The event is being held at The Underground Arena in Montreal with premium priced tickets still available. Since EMMA has been growing more veterans from other organizations are starting to move over, tonight’s main card features a few of these vets who have begun to show the EMMA fans what they can do. Who will move on, who is overrated? We will find out, let’s take a closer look at some of these fights.
Method Man vs Osulf Durin
The main event of the evening pits two veterans from other organizations who have begun to make a name for themselves in EMMA against each other. Durin (7-3) is a WCF veteran who made his EMMA debut at EMMA 15. Durin is currently 2-0 in EMMA and has shown to be a very well rounded fighter. He has very good boxing and BJJ brown belt as well as the wrestling skills to have a say in where the fight takes place. Almost all of his wins are finishes with 3 (T)Kos and 3 submissions to prove how well rounded he is. His opponent, Method Man (7-1)is a dangerous striker who showcased his skills in his EMMA debut at EMMA 16. Man is an ROF veteran with his only loss coming to their champion, now in a new org Man hopes to jump into the title scene as soon as possible. Man is also well rounded, holding a brown belt in BJJ to accompany his striking. This fight gives both guys a great chance to showcase their skills and make a statement which would boost them forward considerably in the wide open 185 lbs division. I predict a stand up fight because I don’t think Durin will be able to employ his ground game all too much against a better wrestler. Man should be able to edge Durin in the stand up and clinch game and take the decision. Pick: Method Man via UD
Max Hatred vs Aaron Archer
Aaron Archer (10-6) is also a relatively new entrant to the EMMA ranks and shocked the world when he beat the champ at the time, Eli Crowe, via unanimous decision in his debut. After an average run in the TTFC it looked like Archer had found his home until Sullivan derailed his hype by taking a controversial spilt decision. Archer is now looking to get back on track in a division that is wide open. His opponent, Hatred (2-0) is a young up and comer with more hype and skill than you would expect from someone so young in their pro career. He debuted with an impressive quick finish at EMMA 16 and now gets a huge chance to steal Archer’s hype. This is a cool fight because on the one side you have an always dangerous veteran who has struggled with consistency and on the other a young and hungry kid. Skill wise, this fight is very even both on the feet and on the ground. Hatred could have a clinch advantage while Archer is probably the better wrestler so we could see this fight go everywhere and most likely go the distance too. Pick: This is a pick em fight and I think we might see a controversial split decision but Archer is a veteran and I give him the edge to win that decision.
Don Cramer vs Oscar Payne
Don Cramer (5-2) has been with EMMA almost his entire career and seems to be doing the “two steps forward, one step back” thing. He most recently came up short against Marcel Washington and will definetally look to bounce back from his second loss the same way he did his first. Cramer has good hands as well as the wrestling to keep the fight standing and a purple belt in BJJ should the fight hit the ground. All of Cramer’s wins have come by KO and he has only lost by decision making him a tough dude and a hard opponent to look good against. Payne (7-3) is also a EMMA veteran, riding the first 3 fight win streak of his career. He most recently won a hard fought decision over Dee Nyde but is also known for finishing guys with kicks or punches. Payne is a very versatile and dangerous striker and clinch fighter who also has the ground game to keep fights standing. On paper this looks like it is going to be an all out stand up war which the fans always love. The boxing and ground game in this fight is very even but Payne will be bringing a big MT advantage into the cage. Cramer will be hard to finish, but Payne should be able to pepper him with kicks and punches from the outside while roughing him up in the clinch every time he gets the chance. Cramer always has a puncher’s chance and he really needs to use it in this fight. Pick: Payne via UD
