UPF 25: Kuo Vs Swain is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by Ultimate Pit Fighting on March 9, 2013 at Hayashi's Lounge in Hilo, Hawaii.

Official Fight Card

-[Light-heavyweight bout] Sheng Jen Kuo (4-2) (3-2 UPF) vs. David Swain (4-4) (3-4)

-[Preview] Sheng Jen Kuo is a freestyle fighter that specializes in offensive wrestling and takedowns. He has a dangerous top game but can stand and bang if he needs to. David Swain is all about throwing hands, though, so it's likely that we will see Jen Kuo looking for the takedown.

-[Heavyweight bout] Ichabod Crane (5-0) (N/A) vs. YB Sol Jr (18-5) (N/A)

-[Preview] These two fighters are both newcomers to the UPF fight league. YB Sol Jr is an experienced vet that has done it all. He has been in the mix with some seriously veteran opponents and most of his losses have come against the elite of the elite. Ichabod Crane is relatively green but has shown a diversity of attacks depending on the opponent. Ichabod has stood in the pocket with heavy handed strikers in the past but will he look to do so against such a dangerous opponent?

-[Heavyweight bout] Frank Dunham (3-8) (3-8 UPF) vs. Richard Tavarius (14-8-1) (N/A)

-[Preview] In order to help fill the card, Richard Tavarius has stepped up on short notice to fight heavyweight veteran Frank Dunham. As part of the agreement, Tavarius has offered to forgo his wrestling credentials and box with the bigger man.

-[Middleweight bout] Zack Barch (1-0) (1-0 UPF) vs. Buddy Stevens (2-7) (0-4 UPF)

-[Preview] Zack Barch impressed critics with his lightning fast dismantling of William Adama earlier in the month. His takedown, his top control, and his ground n pound were all top notch. Buddy Stevens has a lot to prove in this fight and will be looking desperately to submit Barch to shock the world.

-[Welterweight bout] Jesse Banner (3-2) (2-2 UPF) vs. Casey Jones (3-7-1) (0-2 UPF)

-[Preview] Jesse Banner will look to implement a sprawl and brawl strategy against the ground and pound stylist Casey Jones. Both men have struggled at times as of late but whoever can control the positioning will likely finish the other.

-[Middleweight bout] Jeremy Kroft (5-2) (4-2 UPF) vs. Suriya Pinphet (0-1) (N/A)

-[Preview] Despite his professional debut resulting in a loss, Suriya Pinphet is a hot prospect in the middleweight division. With a much heralded striking game and an ever improving grappling game, the race is on to see if he can catch up to the more established fighters in his division skill wise. Looking to prove that he isn't ready is Jeremy Kroft- an experienced striker in his own right. Kroft is always in exciting fights as either he knocks his opponent out or he gets knocked out. This fight has fireworks written all over it!

-[Heavyweight bout] [Proposed] Arnold Vegh (12-5) (3-1 UPF) vs. Rickson Gracie (10-2) (6-1 UPF)

-[Preview] This fight may or may not happen but it has fireworks written all over it!

-[Middleweight bout] Stefan Pruvhe (5-3) (5-2 UPF) vs. Marucio Calvancante (8-3) (4-3 UPF)

-[Preview] Mauricio Calvancante is an experienced submission grappler. His specialty is taking down unsuspecting boxers and forcing them to tap out in short order. Stefan Pruvhe is your classic sprawl and brawl boxer who will be looking to knock out Calvancante as he always does: in the first round.

-[Welterweight bout] Maxim Markov (5-3) (3-2 UPF) vs. Glin Burman (2-7) (N/A)

-[Preview] The experienced submission artist, Markov, will take on UPF newcomer and knockout artist Glin Burman in a match that has “redemption” written all over it for one man.

-[Bantamweight bout] Josh Thai (1-2) (N/A) vs. Demetrious Johnson Jr (1-0) (N/A)

-[Preview] Two unranked prospects will go toe-to-toe to see who can advance in a still shallow bantamweight division. Neither man is afraid to go to the ground but you can bet Josh Thai will be looking to stand and use his lethal leg kicks to chop down Demetrious.
