KRT 205 Semi Finals is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by Kage Ryu Taijutsu on March 15, 2013 at the Hard Knocks arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Writer's note: I'm giving a novice sports writer the opportunity to join me in writing this preview. He will handle the background section only of this article. I don't know him very well but you may have heard of him from his film career.

Background

Hi I'm Troy McClure!  You may remember me from my instructional tapes such as “How to Lose a Finger in Ten Days with the Yakuza” and “Fight better, stupid!”

In the first round of the light-heavyweight grand prix we saw Archie Bell, Forrest Griffin, Wanderlei Silva, and Rampage Jockson dominate their way through to the second round. Now they are that much closer to the gold and the stakes are higher than ever.

With a championship belt riding on the line, there is zero room for error. Who can survive the cut and move on to the tournament finale?

Official Fight Card

-[Lightweight bout]: Tomi Atomi vs. Juan Tamad

-[Preview]: Atomi versus Tamad is the kind of fight that really lets you test the mettle of a ground fighter. Here you have Atomi and he's a black belt and he's submitted a bunch of tough dudes. Then you have Tamad, a ground n pound specialist that really calls the art of ground n pound his main stay. Can he survive on the ground trying to pound out a black belt submission fighter?

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Forrest Griffin vs. Rampage Jockson

-[Preview]: In the co-main event we have a classic name battle leading the way in the light-heavyweight tournament. Griffin versus Jockson are two dudes that love to stand and bang but they've both shot for the occasional takedown. I would expect it more of Jockson in this matchup than of Griffin as the latter will be sitting on a very comfortable edge in the striking department.

-[Welterweight bout]: Cub Galloway vs. Bruce Do

-[Preview]: In this welterweight special attraction, former AJFC welterweight champion seeks his second KRT victory as he takes on NFC veteran Cub Galloway. Both fighters are very comfortable in any position that the fight takes place so it will be interesting to see who the tougher of the two will be.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Wanderlei Silva vs. Archie Bell

-[Preview]: Silva versus Bell has the potential to be just the kind of slug fest that fans yearn for. Wanderlei Silva throws strikes from all angles and truly utilizes that Muay Thai style in his vicious attack. He will bring the fight to the ground to work his ground n pound, he will push guys against the fence and unload with knees, elbows, and punches. Archie Bell is virtually the same but lacks the tenacity in the clinch of his opponent. Bell would rather stand at a distance and trade punches with his opponent above all else. If this fight turns into a slug fest, it could be one for the ages!

-[Heavyweight bout]: Olivin St Daintoro vs. Russell Jones

-[Preview]: What a matchup! Two top flight boxers put it all on the line here. Both guys have a propensity to knock their opponents out and both have seen all but one of their victories come by way of knockout. Neither guy is likely to go for a takedown here and both guys will throws punches and kicks, whatever it takes.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Rocky The Hitman vs. Randy Coature

-[Preview]: Former AJFC star Randy Coature makes his KRT debut as he takes on grappling specialist Rocky The Hitman. Rocky isn't likely to stop the takedown if Randy goes for it but we may see Randy looking to stand and box in this fantastic matchup.

-[Lightweight bout]: Kazunori Ishii vs. Machi Machiko

-[Preview]: Machi Machiko is a true veteran of the sport. He has fought regionally, he has fought for ONI, EMPIRE... and now he looks for his elusive first victory in the KRT cage. Standing across from him is a fighter reborn; Kazunori Ishii has amped up his training with the famous Convicted Fight Team and has found himself on a three fight winning streak for the first time in his professional career. Both need this win desperately to cement the legacy that they hope to leave behind them. For Machi it's more about do or die: he needs to prove himself to the fans here. No pressure.

-[Featherweight bout]: Yoshi Doi vs. Aki Sirkesalo

-[Preview]: The freestyle fighter Yoshi Doi takes on knockout specialist Aki Sirkesalo in this featherweight attraction. If Yoshi Doi brings this fight to the ground, as I expect he will, don't be surprised if Aki Sirkesalo is much more competent on the ground than is expected of a striker. This fight could be very evenly matched but the edge could very well swing towards Aki if the fight drags on into the deep waters.

-[Welterweight bout]: Matthew Emanuel vs. Thiago Alves

-[Preview]: Elite striker Matthew Emanuel takes on the highly regarded Thiago Alves. Both of these guys have all the skills any fighter could ever ask for and when they're on, they're really ON. Both struggle to find their place in the cage as well, however.

-[Middleweight bout]: AnthonyH Moreno vs. Dave Dickinson

-[Preview]: Dave Dickinson was a career AJFC fighter and good friend of mine. He's a competent fighter that can really put together some moves on the ground. However, he truly struggles at times as well. He needs a victory here more than ever and that is troubling to me because he is taking on a very dangerous opponent in AnthonyH. AnthonyH is comfortable anywhere the fight goes and is very capable of escaping submission attempts and landing brutal ground n pound to any opponent silly enough to get trapped underneath him. As much as it pains me to say this, AnthonyH could find this fight very.. easy.
