Inside The UPF: Helge Fossmo

Fighter profile of Helge Fossmo by Dale Saw

Hello once again. And, welcome to Inside The UPF, as always I am your host Fred Meyer. Today on the show we have a man who needs no introduction amongst UPF fans. He is the reigning UPF heavyweight champion of the world Helge Fossmo.

Freddy: Welcome to the show champ.

Champ: Thank you for having me on the show.

Freddy: You are very welcome. It's a pleasure to have you on. Now, champ, after your last fight you stated that "TaPoUt" Arnold Vegh should be next in line for a shot at your belt. Why Vegh? What makes him worthy? And how do you think that fight will pan out?

Champ: "TaPoUt" would be my biggest challenge to date, simply because his skill set is close to my own. And, he has been on a win streak as of late. So, he's a guy I have my eye on. But, it is simply Mr Saw's decision on who I fight. I am the champion and I will always be a fighting champion. I'll fight anyone who is put infront of me. As for the fight, i see myself winning by ground and pound early in the third round.

Freddy: Well thats a fight I'd like to see. Mr. Saw get on it. Now, of course, Vegh currently has a fight scheduled on Marth thirtyth twenty-thirteen against Roz Dee for a possible shot at your title. Do you think Vegh will come out the victor, and possibly become the number one heavyweight contender?

Champ: I think he's going to walk though his next fight. But, you never know he might lose. But, I've got my fingers crossed for him to win. Mainly, because I want to fight him and prove to the world that I am here to be the champion for a long time to come.

Freddy: Well I would like to see that fight go down. But, Roz Dee is not to be over looked. Haha. Anyway, champ, tell us a little about yourself before you were champion of the world. Like, how did you get into fighting? Why mma?

Champ: Well from the age thirteen, I use to get into trouble at school for mimmicking wrestling moves. [chuckles] Until, this teacher came to me and asked me if I'd care to join the wrestling team. Of course, I was like 'Yeah, why not.' When I actually saw how they were wrestling, I was like 'Hell yeah' From there I joined a boxing gym, worked out twenty-four seven. When I had just turned eighteen, a buddy of mine invited me to a amature mma fight. I loved it! So, I join the local mma gym. Had my first fight at the age of twenty. From then, I became the legend you see in front of you. I'm a one time super heavyweight King Of The Cage: Hilo champion, one time super heavyweight Ring of Fire champion defending that title three times, and I was the last ever KOTC champion and now proud to say the UPF world heavyweight champion.

Freddy: Wow. Champion in four different orgs. I did not know this. That's quite the accomplishment. I knew your were good. But, had no idea you had all of that under your belt. Now did you, by any chance, catch last weeks show?

Champ: Fair enough, he thinks all I am is a wrestler. Well maybe I am. But, I win fights. And, when I get to fight him, I'm going to cut him up just like my last two victims. Haha.

Freddy: I'll take that as a "Yes, I not only saw the show. But I also have this to say..." Haha. So, let's see if I got this right; you predict, if and when you fight Ichabod Crane, that you'll finish him by doctor stoppage?

Champ: Yeah! I guarantee, it's going to be a blood bath! He's going to be another victim, where it's going to be a stoppage due to the mess I make of his face!

Freddy: You definitely have had quite a few stoppages with your razor sharp elbows. You are quite the ground and pound artist. Well good luck when that fight goes down, which I get the feeling will be right around the corner. Alright, we are running short on time, before we go, is there anything you'd like to say to your opponents, the company or your fans?

Champ: I have nothing but respect for my opponents. But, if they want to disrespect me, I'm not going to like it. That's all I have to say about that. I'd like to thank Mr. Cropper, my manager, for leading me to where I am today, at the top. I'd also like to say Hellraiser for Life baby. Now, are we done? I need to get back to training.

Freddy: Yes champ, back to training you go. Haha. Helge Fossmo ladies and gentlemen. Your UPF heavyweight champion. Next week we will be sitting down with another UPF champion, light-heavyweight champ Hugo Llorente. We'll be discussing his up coming title fight with Carlos Jos Ricci. So, you better tune in. Until next time, I'm Fred Meyer signing off.
