UPF 29: 170lb Tourney Round 2 was a mixed martial arts event held by Ultimate Pit Fighting on April 6, 2013 at the Hard Knocks Casino & Arena in Hilo, Hawaii.

[Background]

In an action packed night of fights, four fighters met to determine the fate of the welterweight division. With only two rounds left to go, who can advance and become the welterweight champion of the world?

[Official Fight card]

[Preliminary Card]

-[Bantamweight bout]: Dan Love vs. Kendrick Stagliano

-[Results]: In and out of the clinch for no apparent reason, Stagliano clinch attempt/spammed faster than most submission spammers operate but hey: he thwarted Love's thirty-three takedown attempts and won a decision for it. Kendrick Stagliano def. Dan Love via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

-[Welterweight bout]: Jesse Banner vs. Rivel Molen

-[Results]: It only took roughly four punches for Banner to put Molen away in this impressively short fight. Jesse Banner def. Rivel Molen via KO (Punches) at 0:42 of round 1.

-[Bantamweight bout]: George Santos vs. Mike Messner

-[Results]: Mike Messner continues to impress as he rises to the top of the heap. Although he may have been pushed up a bit too early in his last fight, he fought evenly with George Santos. Santos actually held his own against Messner in the clinch, battering him with elbows and a powerful knee. Out of the clinch, however, it was all Messner. Mike Messner def. George Santos via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

-[Welterweight bout]: Slim Shady vs. Al Bundy

-[Results]: Shady gets the clinch, shady gets the takedown, shady submission spams the life out of Bundy before locking in the finishing move to end it all. It's safe to say that Al Bundy needs a step down in competition. Slim Shady def. Al Bundy via Submission (Guillotine) at 2:37 of round 1.

[Main Card]

-[Heavyweight bout]: Bobby Haley vs. Feodor King

-[Results]: The same story was played out in both rounds one and round two: King gets the takedown, both fighters battle for position and compete for submissions. Haley easily won both rounds by mixing in ground n pound as well. In the third round, however, Haley locked in the third armbar submission of his career and won it all. Bobby Haley def. Feodor King via Submission (Armbar) at 2:59 of round 3.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Jose Lopez vs. Willie Leak

-[Results]: Lopez dominated this fight with his kicks. Although Leak did get a takedown briefly, he wasn't able to capitalize on it. In the end, Lopez brutalized Leak with kicks and finished him with a head kick followed by some ground n pound for the win. Jose Lopez def. Willie Leaks via TKO (Strikes) at 3:53 of round 2.

-[Welterweight bout]: Declan McCready vs. Scott Banks

-[Results]: The first fight of two to decide who will go on to the tournament finale and who will be left in the toy box playing with himself. McCready played a game of catch and release with the clinchwork which seems to be a trend lately. McCready rocked Banks with what appeared to be a 209 style bitch slap and finally finished him. Not to be outdone, McCready threw a powerful head kick and followed up with strikes on the ground a la Jose Lopez from the fight prior. Declan McCready def. Scott Banks via TKO (Strikes) at 3:23 of round 1 to advance to the UPF Welterweight Tournament Finale!

-[Welterweight bout]: Oktawian August vs. Charlie Sheen

-[Results]: In the final fight of the card, August and Sheen met to decide who would meet McCready in the welterweight tournament finale to fight for the title. What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Apparently the unstoppable force simply goes through the immovable object. The majority of this fight was spent on the feet with both fighters tagging each other with hard shots. In the second round, August scored a takedown and began hunting for a submission; looking to capitalize on the failure of Crazy in the first round of the tournament. Despite his best efforts, Sheen ended the second stanza on top of August. The third round was more of the same: the fighters trading shots at every chance, Sheen avoiding the takedown attempts, and August finally landing one off a beautiful counter. Once again, Sheen ended up in August's guard off a failed submission attempt. Despite ending two rounds on top, he clearly didn't deal enough damage to match blows with the powerful Oktawian August. Oktawian August def. Charlie Sheen via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) to advance to the UPF Welterweight Tournament Finale!
