Event Preview: UPF-LA 5: Brant vs Louis
Ultimate Pit Fighting - Los Angeles (ID 190K+)
2013-06-14, Los Angeles, Hard Knocks - Los Angeles
Author:Jack LaBear

This coming Friday Ultimate Pit Fighting - Los Angeles brings us another exciting night of MMA action. This event will take place at the Hard Knocks arena with ten fights scheduled for your entertainment. Let's take a look at the match ups and see whats in store.

The undercard starts off with a bantamweight contest between DeMarco "The Fury" McFlurry (0-1) and "Scarface" Tony Montana (0-1).

Both fighters are looking for their first victory after disappointing debuts. Montana is a well rounded fighter and McFlurry specializes in Muay Thai. I would expect to see Montana attempt to take this fight to the ground where he holds the advantage while McFlurry will be trying to clinch up and use his Muay Thai to put away his opponent. Will Montana take it to the ground and get his first win, or will McFlurry be the one celebrating his victory?

Hole in your pocket sportsbook (HIYP) odds: DeMarco "The Fury" McFlurry - 102, "Scarface" Tony Montana -120

Next up is a heavyweight fight between Tubbins Stewfis (1-0) and Tao Chai "Tree" Bangerang (0-0).

Stewfis showed he is for real this April when he used his boxing expertise to put on a dominating performance ending with a TKO at :26 of the second round in Las Vegas. Tonight he will face a newcomer to the sport, Bangerang who is a great boxer himself. Bangerang will tower over Stewfis, he is 40 cenimeters taller and has a huge reach advantage so Bangerang will probably try to keep it on the outside. Stewfis has proven when he lands his punch, he can put you out. Will Stewfis continue his winning ways, or will Bangerang walk away with the win.

(HIYP) odds: Tubbins Stewfis - 120, Tao Chai "Tree" Bangerang -102

Next, we have a light heavyweight fight between Bones "Jones" Scizo (1-1) and "Officer" Roger Papermouth (1-0).

Scizo is looking to return to the win column, he is a ground and pound specialist and will be looking to take Paperouth to the ground. Papermouth is undefeated, he is an excellent boxer that has proven he has real KO power. Papermouth has some ground skills and knows the ground game, but has not been tested yet against some good ground and pound. Will Scizo ground and pound his way to another victory, or will Papermouth get the KO and remain undefeated?

(HIYP) odds: Bones "Jones" Scizo +111, "Officer" Roger Papermouth -135

The final fight on the undercard is a heavyweight bout between Fedor "Last Emperor" Emelianenko (1-1) and Johnny "Good Boy" Tyler (0-0).

Emelianenko is trying to bounce back after a disappointing loss in UPF-LA 1, he is a ground fighter and will want to take Tyler down. Tyler is making his debut tonight seeking his first victory; he is a Muay Thai fighter and will be trying to kick and clinch his way to victory. Will Emelianenko take this one to the ground and tap Tyler out, or will Tyler get the better of him?

(HIYP) odds: Fedor "Last Emperor" Emelianenko +115, Johnny "Good Boy" Tyler -141

We start the main card off with a light heavyweight fight between Lenzi Tapera (5-0) and Szakul "War" Ingwar (1-3).

The undefeated Tapera returns to the cage after an impressive first round submission against Toki Mazuke in UPF 1. Tapera puts his perfect record on the line against a more skilled but less successful Ingwar. Both fighter seem to prefer to fight on the ground so you can expect this one to go to the groud quick. Will Tapera continue his winning ways and remain undefeated or will this one to to Ingwar?

(HIYP) odds: Lenzi Tapera -141, Szakul "War" Ingwar +115

Next we have a bantamweight fight between "Desperate" Des Perado (2-1) Sam "Killer" Keller (4-1).

Keller is moving down in class from the featherweight division where he was a dominating presence. He was the champion of the division in the UK MMA fight org when it closed down. Keller is a skillful boxer who has proven he has the stamina to go the distance if needed. Keller will have his hands full if this fight goes to the mat, Perado is a true artist when it comes to ground and pound, landing over 90% of his ground strikes. Will Keller show why he was crowned champ of his last org, or will Perado ground and pound his way to another victory?

(HIYP) odds: "Desperate" Des Perado -120, Sam "Killer" Keller -102

Next up is a heavyweight match up between Alistar "Devolution Man " Overim (5-2) Mark "The Super Samoan" Hunt (7-1)

This is a Boxing vs Muay Thai match up, this should really be a stand up war. Overim will be looking to take it into the clinch and knee his opponent to death while Hunt will try to overcome Overim's reach advantage and keep it on the outside. Hunt has some real KO power, all seven of his wins have come by KO. Both fighters have been very successful on the QFC circuit so this should be an interesting fight. Will Overim take it to the clinch and win with knees or will Hunt score yet another KO?

(HIYP) odds: Alistar "Devolution Man " Overim +122, Mark "The Super Samoan" Hunt -150

Next we have a bantamweight fight that will determine who will be getting the first title shot in the division. Matched up, we have Alex Dragon (5-3) facing off against Keanu "Spyda" Kealoha (5-0).

Kealoha, who is undefeated, is the former champion of the Synchronicity fight org in Hilo, he held their belt when they closed. Kealoha is a ground fighter but has some stand up skill, and Dragon is a stand up fighter that can take care of himself on the ground. I expect Dragon to try to keep this one standing and hope Kealoha tires himself out trying to take it to the ground while trying to pepper him with punches to rack up some points. Dragon may have some trouble keeping it standing though because Kealoha has a very good percentage with his takedowns, and he is persistent with his submission attempts. Who will face Parisyen for the title belt? Will Dragon manage to keep it standing and score the W or will Kealoha prove why he was champion of Synchronicity and score another submission victory?

(HIYP) odds: Alex Dragon -194, Keanu "Spyda" Kealoha +156

Next is the Co-Main event, it is a welterweight fight between Jax Delgado (6-1) and Gotrek Felix (4-1)

Delgado is returning to the cage after a brutal KO of Jonas Estrada in UPF-LA 1 that earned him KO of the night honors. Delgado is mainly a stand up fighter but can handle the ground game. Felix is a well rounded fighter who prefers fighting on the ground. Three of Felix's four victories have come via submission yet Felix has never scored a takedown himself, he may have a hard time getting Delgado to the ground because Delgado holds the advantage in wrestling. Will Delgado score another KO, or will Felix manage to take him down and tap him out?

(HIYP) odds: Jax Delgado -133, Gotrek Felix +108

As a finale, we bring you our Main Event, a heavyweight fight between Tom Brandt (5-3) and DeAndre "The Monster" Louis (5-2).

Brant is looking to bounce back after being beaten down by Dongdong Wong in UPF-LA 2. Brant is a ground fighter who will want to take it to the mat, while Louis will want to make his stand up advantage work for him. Louis is well rounded and while he should be trying to keep it standing, he knows what to do on the ground; Louis has had more success on the ground than his blue belt would suggest. Brant has a low takedown success rate, but Louis' opponents have had a high rate of success so this one should be interesting to watch. Will Brant take Louis down and tap him out, or will Louis score the KO?

(HIYP) odds: Tom Brandt -170, DeAndre "The Monster" Louis +138
