Inside The UPF: Chris Remnant

Fighter profile of Chris Remnant by Dale Saw

Welcome to Inside The UPF. I am your host, Fred Meyer. Today we have a middleweight fighter whom has been raising through the ranks UPF-Hilo very quickly. He is someone both Tony Brown and Henkka Reem must watch out for. Ladies and gentlemen please help me welcome to the stage Chris Remnant.

[Chris Remnant enters the stage holding a replica UPF-Hilo championship belt over his head with both hands. Walks over to Fred throws the belt over his shoulder and shakes hands and takes his seat.]

Freddy: Hey, welcome to the show Chris. I like your belt. Now I'm pretty sure that Reem did not let you borrow his belt. So, it's safe to says that's a replica? But, it looks just like the real one.

Remnant: I had it made special as a motivation tool to help me always remember what my goal is.

Freddy: So your goal, like most other fighters, is to become champion then?

Remnant: Yeah, but I wanna be more than that. I wanna be a legendary figure when this is all over. When Henkka Reem is nothing more than a footnote in history, they will still talk about Chris Remnant.

Freddy: Boldly put. What exactly do you mean by "when this is all over?" As in when you retire from fighting? And Reem in a dominate champ. Undefeated. How do you feel you match up against him currently?

Remnant: I mean when it's over, I can't fight forever. And as far as matching up against Reem, I'm not quite ready to face him yet. I figure two more months training and I'd be willing to accept a title shot. Oh and the only reason he is undefeated is because he has not faced me yet.

Freddy: Haha. And what if Brown beats Reem in their rematch? Would you be willing to fight him? Or would you wanna train longer before that match up as well?

Remnant: To be honest I just am not quite ready for a title shot yet. I would rather go into the fight fully prepared and trained then to take a undeserved loss.

Freddy: So your saying right now you would lose to either of them but in two months you could beat either of them? How would two months make a difference in the outcome of the fight? They would no doubt be training as well. So in two months wouldn't they have the same advantage as they do now?

Remnant: That's not what I said for sure. But if I face them now they have a chance at winning. And as far as them still having a chance in a couple of months, well that's just not the case.

Freddy: Alright, alright, I got you. So Chris tell me who is your hero? And what made you get into MMA in the first place?

Remnant: Royce Gracie would have to be my hero and the reason I got into MMA. I used to watch him when i was young with my dad. And, as a kid I use to try to imitate his moves and submissions.

Freddy: Royce Gracie, he was the first ever UFC champion, was he not? He is a very talented submission fighter, maybe one of the best ever. He is like a 6th degree black belt or something crazy. Is that one of your goals, To obtain the level of jiu-jitsu that he has?

Remnant: No my goal is to bypass him.

Freddy: Haha, well that will be no easy task. The best of luck with that. So, we are getting low on time, real quickly tell us a little about the non fighting side of you. Any hobbies besides fighting?

Remnant: I like to juggle. It's fun and it actually helps me increase my hand-eye coordination.

Freddy: Juggle huh? Haha. Didn't expect that one. Haha. Well we are out of time. So with a new addition to the show stolen from The MMA Today show over in LA. The last thirty seconds are all yours anything goes.

Remnant: First I'd like to thank Mr. Saw for having faith in me and allowing me to fight for him. Secondly, I'd like to thank my dad, god rest his soul, for always steering me in the right direction. And finally, I'd like to tell Mr. Reem to take a picture of that championship belt because after facing me he wont be seeing it again.

Freddy: Well there it is. Ladies and gentlemen Chris Remnant. Thank agIn for coming on the show Chris. And that all for today. Make sure not to miss out on next weeks show. We will have a welterweight fighter that has a very impressive UPF-Hilo record at six and one. He will be facing Hank Patterson for the belt in his next bout, Oktawian August. So if you are busy set yur TiVo and DRV's. Until next time, I'm Fred Meyer signing out.
