From Zero to Hero: A Roger Freedman Story

Fighter profile of Roger Freedmen by Speedy Gonzaitev

The story of the American Hero Roger Freedman starts in Columbus, Ohio where he was born to military parents who died shortly after he was born leaving the baby Roger to be taking in by the abusive, perpetual drunk ex boxer uncle who lived in a van down by the river and sold old DVD’s and VCR's to pay for gas. Roger learned at an early age to fight for the things he wanted developing a reputation of a kid who never stops coming forward unless you put him out. If he is conscious, he will keep coming after you. As he got older, he quickly became the biggest kid on the river and no one would mess with him. By the time he was a teenager, he had been in more brawls than Mankind aka Mick Foley. By this time, that abysmal uncle turned father figure began teaching him the sweet science, the art of piston like jabs and lethal combinations. Once he turned 16 he caught the eye of a down on his luck MMA manager named Alexi Zaitev. Around this same time, the intrepid uncle died of alcohol poisoning and Roger was put into foster care. The father of this home tried to rape Roger the very first day, Roger practically killed him when he shattered his jaw with a brutal left cross, right uppercut combination. After this Roger disappeared, retreating into the wilderness, maybe. No one knew for sure until out of nowhere, Alexi Zaitev showed up with him as his entrant into the 3rd ever The Ultimate Manager tournament. Roger towered over the competition with his imposing 215 cm, 280 pound frame. Anyway, I, Rambling Red Stevenson managed to catch up with the bear of a man recently to get an update on his career.

Red: Thanks for allowing me a few moments of your time Roger.

Roger, standing in full camo fatigues that clash heavily with his massive purple afro: It's whatever, my manager said I needed to do this interview thing since I haven't been fighting since TUM.

Red: While on the topic on TUM, care to comment on your performance in it as well as your pre-tournament banter with Charlie Sheen and Mohammed Soloman?

Roger: Yeah man, I felt great going into the tourney I was in peak condition and was really amped for the tourney as I wanted to shut up the loud mouths known as Charlie Sheen and Mohammed Soloman or whatever the fuck his last name is, the freaking nut job who had a micro bible tucked into his shorts? The man is a basket case. Charlie Sheen is addicted to blow, nuff said man. Anyway as for TUM, I had a great first performance allowed me to continue into the 1st round since mah first fight was a qualifier or sumthin'. My next opponent, Christian Hale or sumthin', the fuckin' kicker ain't no real man. Real man don't use cheap ass kicks to win.

Red: But he knocked you out Roger. He didn’t win a decision.

Roger: Ya that sunavabitch finished me but his pillow hands, shins wateva you wanna call dem couldn't finish me until I couldn't stand no mo. He had me knocked down 2 or 3 times before he finished me. My fro is too strong for any mortal man to finish me in one shot.

Red: I see, you recently signed with Pegasus Cagefighting League in St Pete, any reason as to why you picked them after being based in Hilo for so long?

Roger: I signed with them cuz I needed to get the fuck outta Hilo, needed a new guy and PCL offered to help pay for moving fees so I moved there and entered their SHW tourney. One tourney to anotha, I'm gonna show I'm da baddest big man on the planet. As my saying goes, you mess with da fro, you got to go.

Red: Your first opponent in PCL is a BJJ brown belt, any thoughts on how you plan on dealing with that?

Roger lifts up his fists: Des two hands are all I need to deal with that brown belt. It wont be needed see he will be KTFO in 2 seconds, hell, maybe before he gets into the cage cuz ma fro is too intimidating for most opponents to handle.

Red: Interesting, well thank you very much for your time Roger.

Roger walks off and sees his good friends Viktor and Jho sparring and Roger eagerly tries to join in but they won't let him, as the screen fades Roger is sparring with Jho and Kafka at the same time.
