Ladies and gentlemen, meet the new Greg Jackson of MMA Tycoon. There is a new manager that has burst onto the scene, and his name is James Rhoton. At first, people called it beginners luck. That was when his manager record was 5-1. When it was 10-2, they said maybe it was a mix of beginner's luck & some skill. Now, sitting with a historical record of 21-2, & a current record of 21-0, there are no longer any doubts. James Rhoton is for real. His only 2 losses stem from a definite "no hoper" as they are called in our world. Out of 11 fighters, 10 have never lost, 2 are 3-0, 7 are 2-0, and 1 is 1-0. The only 2 losses he has ever incurred as a manager are from just 1 fighter, & he lost both fights easily and in the first round, a definite "no hoper" all other things considered. Not to mention those that watched this fighter in the gym said he never seemed to progress much. Rhoton gave him his chance, and after his first loss allowed him another shot in the cage. He lost this second fight quickly to an opponent sporting a 0-3 record, and that was enough. Rhoton is a fair manager, but a tough one. When you have 11 fighters, and 10 have never lost, then 1 losses twice & easily each time, he cuts them without hesitation. Rhoton runs his fighters like the great organizations, prove yourself worthy at all times or you will be history.
It must be stated, however, cutting people is not what this manager is all about. That is actually the smallest part of this story. Starting off with just 4 fighters, he tried his hardest to create the best talent possible. Young and raw, these first 4 fighters had a lot to prove, but also a lot to gain. The first 4 fights ended with Rhoton going 3-1, & 2 of those victories came by decision. The one that didn't, was a late 3rd round finish. But, now that he had sent his fighters out with the best gameplan possible, it was time to analyze results and make adjustments. Marcus Richardson, still the only fighter under Rhoton to ever lose, was given another chance. All fighters, however, would start training at the best gyms money could buy. They would also be a lot more aggressive next time out.
You see, James Rhoton is a true student of the game. No aspect of the fight game goes unnoticed by him. As big of a MMA fan as they come, plus being a man who trains himself, he understands the game as few others do. What to look for in a new fighter , how to train his fighters for an upcoming fight, and most important how to analyze both his own fighter & the opponent to create the most dominating game plan possible. These are the 3 rules he lives by. His fighters will tell you that if you work under James Rhoton, you work your rear end off. No excuses and no distractions. You train, you fight, and you win. That is the life. He is also as fair as he is tough. For every hour a fighter puts in at the gym, he matches it, finding opponents, setting training schedules, and analyzing previous fights. It's all part of the package that equals domination.
So, after initial results had come in and he was 3-1, that simply wasn't good enough. If there is one thing Rhoton understands most about this crazy fight game, it's that inside the cage anything can happen. Fighting 3 rounds leaves a lot of opportunities on the table, for his opponents that is. Every second the fight continues is another opportunity for the enemy to land that one punch, score that one takedown, throw that one kick, or grab that loose arm. So a new gameplan was set, and he wouldn't just send his fighters out to win, but would win at the absolute first possible moment.
The next stretch that Rhoton and his team entered was one for the ages. The next 12 wins would all end in stoppages, and an amazing 11 of them would be in the first round. 9 (T)ko's and 3 submissions. It was a run that could be unmatched, or at least only achieved by an elite handful. It also seems safe to say that no new manager ever accomplished such a thing. The only black mark in the next 13 fights, is that only 12 were victories. Marcus Richardson, the fighter that seemed skilful hitting bags and rolling with friends, had lost again. This time, to a 0-3 opponent. A tough decision had to be made, and James Rhoton is a tough man. Marcus was immediately released, 10 minutes after his loss. Losses aren't tolerated in James Rhoton's world. The next 6 fights ultimately ended in victories, but the pace slowed as competition increased. 2 would end in decision, 2 by 3rd round stoppage, and 2 in less than a minute in the first round.
But now it's time again. Time to go back to the drawing board. Now that the beginning is over, Rhoton has stated he is going to analyze everything that has transpired over the last 20 fights. The victories have remained, but 4 of the last 6 fights (after his amazing streak) making it to the 3rd round isn't good enough. That simply leaves the opponents with too many opportunities to win. So a new strategy will be developed yet again. The new level of competition has to be dealt with. Now that most of his fighters are signed with organizations, look for this new run to be even more impressive. Look for another string of first round finishes rarely seen in this world. Most importantly, look to count how many of his 10 fighters will have belts around their waist when the next 20 fight streak is over.
