Event Preview: HMMA 110 England V Slinga
HEROIC
2013-09-28, London, Knights Court
Author:

Hello again Itsa me “Sunshine” Weston Markson along with my co-host Rudy “The Box” Knife, we are joined by special guest and hall of famer John Saunders.  Today we will talk about HMMA 110 the first of two HMMA events this weekend in London!

Rudy:  That’s right Weston after the weekend is said and done I estimate somewhere around 400,000 HMMA fans will have been entertained by the 20 total fights.  This weekend probably wont be record breakers but it has a lot of good value there are some guys who are ranked and jockeying for position and could very well be the next contenders with another win or two.

John:  You two seem to be forgetting about the fact there is a recent inductee into the HMMA hall of fame.  One of the most popular fighters in all of MMA’s history; Fedor Alexandrov.  This is really going to be a great card between a lot of guys who are on the verge of breaking through.

MAIN EVENT

#9 John England (25-11)  v  #8 Gun Slinga (16-8)

Weston:  The main event of HMMA 110, a heavyweight battle between 8th ranked Gun Slinga and 9th ranked John England.  Last time we saw Slinga he was beating John England’s friend and teammate, now he gets the chance to go after another fighter on that team while England looks to get some revenge for his training partner.  A win here could throw these two fighters closer into title contention something that has up to this point evaded both fighters.  Slinga has come close before and If I know him he wont rest until he finally gets his shot at the title, can England spoil the chances of Slinga once again as he builds himself up?  Or will Slinga continue his plunge forward?

John:  Woah yea I think these two gonn bang ooh I know Gun Slinga will bang! Ooh! For real though you gotta watch this fight, the winner gonna see some title eliminator action in fact you could say this is the first step with that, anytime you in the top 10 a win or two could put you standing across the champion in the cage.

John you are right about one thing, these two are defiantly going to “bang” to my knowledge neither of these two warriors have ever attempted a takedown will they use this to their advantage and try to catch the other off guard with some takedowns? Or will they stand in the pocket and exchange as we have come to expect out of these two?  If the latter happens expect fireworks, England has still only won by (T)KO!  And Slinga has won 14 of his 16 by (T)KO, both men have also been vulnerable to the knockout so this could be about who connects first or who does the hardest.  Slinga is a little more accurate, but England may have a little more power.  Cant wait to see what happens here.

Prediction:  Slinga by KO

CO-MAIN EVENT

#5  Fedor "Sambist"  Alexandrov (20-7) v  #8 Zoran Miloshevich (21-11)

John: The CO-MAIN event is a light-heavyweight fight between 8th ranked Zoran Miloshevich and the recently Heroic, Fedor Alexandrov.  First I would like to congratulate my brother Fedor, both being members of the HMMA hall of fame and having become Heroic that is what we are brothers.  Now not long ago Zoran was ranked #3 in the division, and Fedor #1 after some losses and then wins for both these two are on a collision course to see who belongs in the divisions elite, who could become a contender and title challenger.  I know Fedor wants nothing more then to get his title back what was once his which led him to his status today.  Zoran also covets the ultimate prize so which of these fighters take that step?

Weston:  I doubt this fight goes the distance these two warriors both have a finishing rate of 80% or above.   They have made a career out of knowing just when to pounce on their hurt opponent and look for the kill.  This fight is going to come down to the Sambo of Alexandrov, and the boxing/muy thai of Zoran.  Will either man be able to survive the others offensive world?

Rudy:  Weston you are such a moron seriously.  This fight is really a battle between what I like to call (lately) zones.  Zones, which zone will the fight take place in?  The standup zone?, the clinch zone? The ground zone?  Well Zoran likes to use the clinch he lands over 75% of his head punches from clinch.  He also attempts takedowns that when in the clinch something he normally doesn’t do from the striking zone.   Zoran is more of a power puncher he doesn’t land a lot of shots from the striking zone, if he comes out swining hard that may play right into Fedor’s gameplan who will look to get the to the ground as soon as possible.  Fedor attempts almost 7 takedowns per fight and lands around 40% of those takedowns.  If he can time one of Zoran’s wild strikes right he may be able to put Zoran on his back and get to his break and butter GNP!

Prediction:  Fedor I think takes this one.

MAIN CARD

#9 Gabe Faber (22-9)  v  #4 Roger Dunowevil (22-10)

Weston:  The next fight is a light-heavyweight clash between two ranked fighters, 4th ranked Roger Dunowevil, and 9th ranked Gabe Faber.  These two fighters have done well as of late both fighters have won 4 out of their last 5 this had lead them to being ranked and getting some title eliminator fights.   These two long time veterans are very similar to each other I expect a great fight between two fighters who will trade back and forth looking for whatever advantage they can find.

Julius "Lights Out" Lawson (26-15-1)  v  Johnny "Handsome" Turk (24-15)

Rudy:  I have it from a very high source that Julius Lawson has for long been considered for possible induction into the HMMA HoF…whether or not the rumors are true I don’t know maybe im making it up?  I know one thing though neither of these guys fights tend to last very long expect a short fight that ends when one of these two great heavyweights land a clean shot.  Don’t be surprised to see Turk drag this fight to the ground, he doesn’t do it often but when he does he has success landing almost 50% of his takedowns.  With him having an advantage on the ground if the fight isn’t going his way he might change levels and look for one of those takedowns.

#10 Rand al Thor (19-11)  v  John Conteh (12-5)

Aaron "Evolution" Edwards (12-5)  v  High Voltage (31-16-4)

John:  The two light-heavyweight fights to start the main card off are really good fights, all 4 of these men were thought of for the 10th spot in the rankings.  When it was all said and done Rand al Thor beat out the other 3 men.  Now you could say that means the other are 11-13 in the rankings (un official).  Both of these fights could determine who belongs in the top 10 I imagine the winners will find themselves sitting pretty with chances to move on to higher profile fights.

PRELIMS

Bob Large  v  Viiksi Tolonen

Cerventes Bison  v  Hunter Hearst Hogan

Tuomas Keto  v  Dan Gerous
