UPF-M 18: Cauthon vs De Leeuw is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by Ultimate Pit Fighting – Montreal on October 12, 2013 at Hayashi's Lounge in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Background

Both Matrim Cauthon and Nando De Leeuw are seeking redemption here. With the possibility of a championship fight looming around the corner, the only immediate goal for these men is to deal with each other. Cauthon the Jujitsu master faces off with the kickboxer De Leeuw.

Official Fight Card

-[Welterweight bout]: Matrim Cauthon(4) (8-3) vs Nando De Leeuw(5) (4-1)

-[Preview]: The perennial top five contender Matrim Cauthon returns in a dangerous gambit against raising star Nando De Leeuw. Matrim came to us with a purple belt and achieved his brown belt not that long ago. Nando De Leeuw is an extremely well rounded striker with an improving ground game to boot. This fight has title shot implications written all over it with the winner likely to earn himself a meeting with the champion.

-[Welterweight bout]: Anderson Jones(6) (4-3) vs Kaz Yago(7) (6-5)

-[Preview]: Anderson Jones is a Brazilian Jujitsu brown belt and a talented submission fighter. He will be put to the task of facing Kaz Yago, a boxer and Jujitsu fighter whose only real weakness is his lack of wrestling.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Mickey Wilson(n/r) (3-0) vs Miguel Foster(n/r) (0-0)

-[Preview]: Mikey Wilson is an exciting prospect that is both young and undefeated. He is a wrestler that uses heavy ground and pound against opponents. Miguel Foster is a purple belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. Despite not having competed yet, he poses a very real threat to the wrestler if he can catch a limb and pull out a submission.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Mikey Meyers(5) (4-2) vs Sam Wilcon(n/r) (2-2)

-[Preview]: Mikey Meyers is one of the few fighters to make the conversion to UPF-M from another branch of the organization. He came to us from (the now defunct) UPF-NY league. He is an intriguing fighter in that he has solid boxing, solid clinchwork, and impressive ground and pound as well. The only area that he is lacking is in his takedown technique. However, he has never been knocked out. Sam Wilcon will look to test his chin in this fight. Sam is a newcomer to UPF who uses heavy punches to the head and takedown attempts as well. If this fight goes to the ground, however, I give the edge to Mikey for his wrestling. Both men are white belts so we'll see how that goes.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Ben Breeze(9) (1-1) vs Alucard Tepes(n/r) (2-2)

-[Preview]: Ben Breeze is a ground and pound specialist that will take on the clinch fighter, Alucard Tepes.

-[Welterweight bout]: Sean Sorrowe(8) (3-3) vs Vlad The Impaler(n/r) (2-5)

-[Preview]: Sean Sorrowe is a well rounded young fighter that uses his wrestling much like the reigning welterweight champion does. He can keep the fight standing to land punches on the feet or shoot for a takedown to pound away viciously from the top position. Vlad The Impaler is a brawler with a limited ground game used to get him back to his feet.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Maurice De La Rue(n/r) (2-5) vs Lews Therin Telamon(n/r) (6-4)

-[Preview]: Maurice De La Rue is a submission specialist. Almost all of his fights have ended in the first round, for better or for worse. Lews Therin Telamon is likewise a submission grappler that is in a similar situation as he needs a win desperately.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Philmore Butts(9) (5-7) vs Charles Manson(n/r) (2-5)

-[Preview]: Philmore Butts started his UPF career at the peak of the division. His experience in SPNY made him an early star. His first devastating defeat came at the hands of Sal Langreck in a fight that would become fight of the night. He rebounded with a win over former heavyweight star Guillaume Mein to earn a second shot at Sal Langreck with the title as a reward. Although the fight would become fight of the night, Philmore was once again on the losing side. Charles Manson is a brawler that just shows up because the dude loves to fight. Despite losing in both of his UPF appearances, he is still a fan draw and a dangerous striker.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Jack Tombstone(10) (3-3) vs Guillaume Mein(n/r) (7-6)

-[Preview]: When Guillaume Mein first signed with UPF-M it was to compete in the main event at heavyweight. He re-signed to compete with us at light-heavyweight but hasn't found a great deal of success thus far. In his most recent fight, he pounded Justin Johnson out with ground and pound. Jack Tombstone is a boxer that many believed on his way towards a title shot. However, after dropping back-to-back fights for the first time in his career, a win is needed now more than ever.

-[Middleweight bout]: Jadyson Costa(n/r) (3-4) vs Ethan Blake(n/r) (4-3)

-[Preview]: Costa and Blake are a pair of grapplers that are both in dire need of a win. Jadyson Costa utilizes clinchwork and power takedowns to set up ground and pound from the top position. Ethan Blake uses his ground and pound as a means to the end and that end is a submission.
