UPF-M 19: Price vs Cormeir is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by Ultimate Pit Fighting – Montreal on October 19, 2013 at Hayashi's Lounge in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Background

Maxwell Price came into the division with a clear goal in his mind: to become the light-heavyweight champion of the world. He saw holes in the style of unstoppable reigning champion Sal Langreck and made his desires known. The wrestling and the ground and pound of Maxwell Price proved too much for the young champion and a doctor halted the fight in the first round.

Maxwell Price became the first fighter to defeat a reigning champion within UPF-M. There was a brief period where no clear cut challenger was around at light-heavyweight and there was even talk of Price moving up to heavyweight to find a worthy opponent.

Cain Cormeir may play spoiler to any future heavyweight talk, however. His wrestling is, perhaps, the best in the light-heavyweight division. He is a ground and pound specialist with an improving boxing game as well.

Official Fight Card

-[Light-heavyweight Championship bout]: Maxwell Price(c) (5-0) vs Cain Cormeir(1) (7-4)

-[Preview]: Light-heavyweight champion Maxwell Price returns to the cage to defend his title against fellow wrestler Cain Cormeir. Maxwell Price came to us from the now defunct Wolf Palace promotion and sacked the division to claim the title for himself. Both of these fighters are true ground and pound stylists although the challenger, Cormeir, has been improving his standup as well.

-[Welterweight Championship bout]: Bear Stevenson(c) (7-1-1) vs Nyrkilla Tapettava(1) (6-1)

-[Preview]: Undisputed Welterweight Champion Bear Stevenson will attempt his first title defense against number one contender and power wrestler Nyrkilla Tapettava. Bear Stevenson won his coveted title in a rematch with divisional kingpin Ronald Rousey. Stevenson was able to keep the fight standing and avoid the dangerous submissions of Rousey for five rounds. Nyrkilla Tapettava is a fight finishing ground and pound enthusiast that has only once tasted defeat. On the ground, these two warriors may be equals but on the feet Stevenson will dominate.

-[Lightweight bout]: Sho Goon(n/r) (8-5) vs Stacee Jaxee(n/r) (4-1)

-[Preview]: Two highly hyped lightweight warriors are making their UPF debut. On the feet, Stacee Jaxee has a world of abilities that allow him to land a plethora of strikes on opponents. On the ground, both guys are focused on submissions. The real deciding factor in this fight may be the wrestling of Sho Goon who could use it to keep himself in an advantageous position.

-[Heavyweight bout]: George McFly(4) (3-1) vs Gleison Maldonado(7) (2-1)

-[Preview]: Gleison Maldonado is a boxer that (un)lucked into an early shot at the heavyweight title due to being in the wrong place at the right time. He accepted the opportunity eagerly but rankly it was too much too soon. You have to give him credit for trying to rise to the occasion though. George McFly is technically a boxer but his real passion is clinch fighting. His dirty boxing is second to none in the heavyweight division.

-[Middleweight bout]: Time Bang(5) (2-0) vs Narcizo Thomas(4) (2-0-1)

-[Preview]: These two undefeated young wrestlers will meet in one of the most highly anticipated matches of the night. Both of these guys use their wrestling to give way for their ground and pound attack. I have to give the edge to Narcizo Thomas as he has had a bit more training time than Bang but both guys are devastating from the top position.

-[Welterweight bout]: Prince Symbol(n/r) (5-4) vs Henry Jones(n/r) (6-3)

-[Preview]: These two boys are making their UPF debut. Both have competed for Wolf Palace although Henry Jones is a veteran of the organization. Prince Symbol is a boxing stylist and Henry Jones is a freestyle fighter.

-[Lightweight bout]: Brian McCarthy(4) (1-2) vs Alex Gonzales(n/r) (2-1)

-[Preview]: Brian McCarthy returns to the UPF-M cage following his debut in which he dominated Paul McBride. Brian is a wrestler that loves to use takedowns from the clinch. Alex Gonzales is a brawler that is making his UPF debut here.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Huey Freeman(n/r) (4-0) vs Steppers Mohommad(n/r) (3-2)

-[Preview]: The ground and pound stylist Huey Freeman makes his UPF debut against the boxer, Steppers Mohommad. Huey is an undefeated grappling specialist that holds a black belt in Brazilian Jujitsu.

-[Lightweight bout]: Alexito Mustacho(2) (1-1) vs Greg Giraldo(n/r) (3-3)

-[Preview]: Alexito Mustacho is a wrestler that is effective in and out of the clinch and has an improving standup game. Greg Giraldo is a boxer that fights effectively against the cage as well. If this fight takes place in the clinch or on the feet, it will be very even. However, Alexito has been improving his ground game in anticipation of a tough fight.

-[Middleweight bout]: Kuka Beludo(n/r) (1-2) vs Sylvia Silva(10) (3-4)

-[Preview]: The Brazilian Jujitsu brown belt Sylvia Silva will help us start this event by welcoming the kickboxer Kuka Beludo to the company. Both men struggle against the exact style of opponent that the other man represesnts.
