Event Preview: SFL 61 Stanley vs Tyson
Evil Empire
2013-10-25, St Petersburg, Kazan Sambo Center
Author:Jax Rostenkowski

Hey guys, Pueblo Escobart here with a preview of

SIBERIAN FIGHT LEAGUE 61

Coming to you live and direct from the Kazan Sambo Center in St. Petersburg on October 25! And here are nine reasons why you don't want to miss it!

145 lb- "Thunder" Ashley Hendricks (4-2-1)(2-1 SFL) vs "Prince" Caol Uno (3-0-1) Uno, making his SFL debut, will take on a top notch grappler in "Thunder" Ashley Hendricks. Hendricks dominates his opponents the entire duration of the match, and has won his last two fights since being KOed in his SFL debut by Stampe Eklund. However, "Prince" Uno can win standing or on the ground, and is a strong finisher. He has yet to be defeated in his MMA career.

155 lb- Yo "Samurai" Eshimuro (7-7)(0-1 SFL) vs Joseph "Le Defricheur" Montferrand (5-6)(0-3 SFL) Yo Eshimuro looks to redeem himself from a loss in his SFL debut to Felix Akamai. A powerful boxer, Yo has racked up five TKO wins. He faces Joseph Montferrand, another competitor yet to get a win here at SFL. In fact, Montferrand has barely seen two minutes in the cage with all of his SFL appearances combined. Both men win by KO, and are prone to being knocked out themselves, so fans of TKO victories should be happy either way.

265+ lb- Ake "Destro" Johansson (2-2) vs Lucas Bane (7-1)(1-0 SFL) Ake Johansson looks to make his mark among the super heavies at SFL in his debut against Lucas Bane. "Destro" has had a change in both name and management, and since has been undefeated. A BJJ brown belt, Ake will face a talented boxer in Lucas Bane, who hasn't lost since his first QFC Tournament match. Bane will look to make it five KOs in a row against the young grappler.

185 lb- Igor Gago (7-5)(2-2 SFL) vs Anthony "The Viper" Jacarson (6-0)(2-0 SFL) "The Viper" will look to extend his undefeated streak against Igor Gago. Gago, who is only a purple belt in BJJ, has nonetheless managed to rack up seven submission victories, including an :18 second arm triangle victory in his last match. Jacarson is known mostly as a striker, but ha lately developed his ground game as well, pulling off two submission victories of his own. It will be interesting to see which of these game competitors will come out on top.

265 lb- "The Bold" Arstan Selmy (8-3)(3-2 SFL) vs "Iron Fist" Jason Rogers (10-8)(1-0 SFL) Rogers is one of those all-or-nothing guys that swings for the fences with his chin out and proud. He won his SFL debut against Phillip Pirrup, and is always looking to uncork an overhand right from hell that will send his opponent into the cheap seats; however, all eight of his losses have been by TKO as well. He will face Arstan Selmy, a great wrestler who has lost twice to cuts. Selmy has an unpolished but effective brawling style, and great physical attributes to back it up. This one could get ugly; in fact, the fans are counting on it.

170 lb- John Haigh (11-5)(9-5 SFL) vs Cameron Poe (7-2)(2-2 SFL) Haigh is a four-time FotN winner who has been at SFL since December of 2012, at SFL 11! Haigh has had two wins since the two last met, when he was stopped by Poe via TKO. Cameron Poe is a vicious Muay Thai striker who likes to make fights bloody. He is coming off of two losses since the two last met, but is hoping to add an eighth KO victory to his resume in this exciting rematch.

185 lb- Joni Vvit (9-3)(5-3 SFL) vs Matthew "Thunder" Godbolt (9-3) Vvit, who is fresh off of a :41 second KO victory over Virgil Cry, is a boxer who prefers to keep the fight standing. Godbolt is a world-class grappler who has scored takedowns in his last eight fights. In a classic striker vs. grappler contest, where both men have identical winning records, it will be a true testament of skill for whoever can implement their game plan.

145 lb TITLE FIGHT- Nikolai Peterson (10-5)(2-0 SFL) vs "The Imp" Tyrion Lannister (7-1) Lannister, undefeated since his first MMA bout, makes his debut against a solid competitor in Nikolai Peterson. Peterson, the current SFL Featherweight Champion, has only been finished once, and never has he been finished under pure MMA rules. Managed by John Hetfield, the champ is on a four-submission win streak. The challenger, Lannister gave up a title in Rio Fighting Championships to come make a bid for the belt at SFL. His manager, Ezekel Rage, apparently believes Tyrion's grappling is good enough to take the title. Expect sparks to fly when these two collide.

155 lb- MAIN EVENT- "Philanthropist" Bobby Butcher (13-2)(5-1 SFL) vs "Mestre" Rafinha Capoeira (14-5-1) Butcher, a product of the Jeffrey Ramirez camp and a regular at Jungle Elite MMA, has twelve TKOs in thirteen wins! He will take on "Mestre" Rafinha Capoeira, who claims that he is out to prove that capoeira is the world's dominant martial art (despite fighting primarily from the clinch, which is opposed to the aesthetics of capoeira as I understand them). His last match was a title match draw at Wolf Palace in Montreal, and he is making his SFL debut against Butcher. Capoeira is managed by Rafael3 Dias, who has been in the fight game for awhile. This fight should be a blistering inferno more than worthy of it's main event status.

And that's the card! We hope everyone turns up or tunes in to catch all the action at the Kazan Sambo Center on October 25, here at SFL, your choice for MMA in Eastern Europe!
