Round 0 Interviews: Super Hans

Fighter profile of Super Hans by

Round 0 comes back around with an interview with the former BFT Welterweight Champion Super Hans. He made his entire 20-8 career in BFT.

Daniel Ocean (D.O.) How are you doing?

Super Hans (S.H.) If I wasn't doing I'd be dead. Or in a coma. Or is that still doing?

(D.O.) What brought you to Sydney from England?

(S.H.) Shit. Is that where we are? How did I get to bloody Sydney? Sure this isn't Glasgow?

(D.O.)  So you've made your entire career in BFT. Would you mind telling us how you started here?

(S.H.) A few years back I replaced crack and happiness with BJJ. Now I get punched in the head for a living. There's a good lesson for the kiddies, don't quit the crack.

(D.O.) What got you started into crack? That's not a thing you hear from too many fighters now-a-days.

(S.H.) My time as a musician lead to a lot of drug use. Or maybe it was the other way around. 8a) It's Jiu Jitsu... while on crack.

(D.O.)  Let's take a look at Jake Shields.

(S.H.) Right

(D.O.) Your first fight with him was in your 3rd professional outting. How did you feel going into it?

(S.H.) Like a government agent stepping on the fingers of a mother as she hangs from a cliff. I felt nothing.

(D.O.)  That was your first professional loss, how did that effect you?

(S.H.) The pain pills they gave me for the arm really acted as a reawakening for me. My sobriety was a cage.

(D.O.) Your second go around with him was at the first PRIDE never die! card. You ended up losing that one via submission too. What were your thoughts coming out of that?

(S.H.) Opiates are shit... And I should work some more in the gym. I need something to help me focus. I need to be a hawk that sees a little creature fluttering on the ground.

(D.O.) The third go around was the biggest outting was for the title. How did you feel going into that fight?

(S.H.) Like I was on fire. Literally on fire. It's amazing what the human body is capable of when it senses danger.

(D.O.) You finally beat him in there. Was the ending to that particularly memorable?

(S.H.) I try not to keep many memories. If you don't remember it, they can't charge you with anything when they scan your memory. You've gotta think ahead.

(D.O.) You haven't faced him since, do you have any interest in fighting him a few more times to settle the score?

(S.H.) I still owe him an armbar to make it even.

(D.O.)  Jake Shields isn't the only person that you had a solid trilogy with. Jermaine Choake is another man.

(S.H.) Yes. He clearly is another man.

(D.O.) The first time you fought him was for the Welterweight Title. The outcome wasn't in your favor. What did you take from that fight?

(S.H.) Don't leave fights in the hands of judges. They just sit there and judge. See a little crack and they think they've got you figured out. Really they just need to open their minds and they'd see who really won.

(D.O.)  You took him in your third title defence with a phenominal performance. The fifth round submission was outstanding. What did you take from that one?

(S.H.)  I saw a lot of beauty in that moment. I was only high on Jui Jitsu at the time, but when I saw Choake take a little hit of crack between the 4th and 5th round I knew we both wanted to get out of there quickly. We've been friends ever since.

(D.O.)  Your sixth title defence was the end of the trilogy. Another victory came up. It ended as a majority decision. When the trilogy ended, did you feel like the fights went as you planned?

(S.H.) I never like the decisions. Decisions are far too mellow. Submissions are a blissful vortex eating violence and love.

(D.O.) Through your fights you've also faced BFT titlists in Hepatitis See and in the Middleweight Division and  Chev Chelios. In both cases, you have a pair of great victories. How does it feel to have these BFT Titlists in your record.

(S.H.) Fantastic. I am a great fighter. I only have a higher power to thank, and that power is crack. And also I am great.

(D.O.) With two great wins over Chev Chelios, have you thought about a move to 185 at any point? He seems to be a pretty great champion up there.

(S.H.) I take the fights that are given too me. I don't really care for weight classes. They play it off like some kind of separate but equal type of thing. It's all just some angle used to control us. Them and those posh 205ers.

(D.O.) You also had a super fight in Kuroda Atsushi.

(S.H.) I didn't know who that was. I'm not entirely sure right now to be honest.

(D.O.) You unanimous decisioned him. What did get out of the fight with him?

(S.H.) A loss mainly. A broken winning streak.

(D.O.) Any consideration in moving down to 155? I think you would have a distinct size advantage there.

(S.H.) Whatever they throw at me is fine. I get paid either way. It is a good excuse to go on the crack diet.

(D.O.) Would you consider rematching him? It was a great fight the first time around

(S.H.) Sure. It would be nice to avenge that loss before I'm forced into retirement.

(D.O.)  You ended up losing your last fight and the belt against Curtis Sharp. I imagine that you want to fight him again. What would you change in a rematch against Sharp?

(S.H.) I'd close the deal. Embrace the crackjitsu and roll him like a joint.

(D.O.) Is crackjitsu your own style of Jiu Jitsu? Tell me more about it.

(S.H.) It's Jiu Jitsu... while on crack.

(D.O.) Your next fight is against Guilherme Alves. You are facing another previous title holder. Do you feel prepared for the fight?

(S.H.) Sure, when is it?

(D.O.) Are you at all worried about his ground game? I know you have a pretty sick ground game, but he's a solid wrestler.

(S.H.) He's just an old dying man. Yeah, he's only 28 and I'm five years older, but age is just a number. Crack keeps you young and whatever he's doing makes him fight like the queen.

(D.O.)  You've fought just about everyone with a solid name that you can. Is there anyone that you want to fight? Welterweights, Middleweights, and Lightweights are all on the table.

(S.H.) The heavyweight champion.

(D.O.) Is there any reason in particular that you choose to call him out? I know you said that you don't care about weight classes, but man that's a pretty big difference in weight.

(S.H.) It was probably the crack speaking. He seemed to stand out in the crowd

(D.O.)  Any closing remarks?

(S.H.) Why? What's your angle?

(D.O.) No angle. Just wanted to give you the oppurtunity to thank anyone or send a message to anyone about anything.

(S.H.) I'd like to thank crack. And you know what? You need to shape up. Live a little. Experience the true nature of the world. All of these questions... It's not good for you. I might have to eat your face.

Well, while I still have a face; that was Super Hans. Catch his next fight at BFT 245.
