 Just as promised, we are back with an action-packed review of SFL 63 from the Kazan Sambo Center in St. Petersburg. November 8 was the scene of a sell-out crowd at The Center, and the fans were not disappointed. If you weren't one of the thousands in attendance, here is what you missed.
265+ lb- Ongka Ongka defeated Jon Jones via Submission (Kimura) in round two. Jones was winning a brief standup exchange in round one when he inexplicably pulled guard. After fending off a dominant Ongka on the ground the rest of the round, he did the same thing in round two! This time Jones wasn't so lucky.
170 lb- Anthony Jacarson defeated Erick Silvinho via Majority Decision. In a brutal three round clinch war, either man could have gotten the nod, but Jacarson out struck Silvinho to take home the big W.
145 lb- Horacio Vanderbeet defeated James Chandler by Majority Decision. A lot of people were confused by the judges' scoring, since the striking was close and Chandler scored three takedowns. That's what happens when you leave it to the judges, and Vanderbeet walked away with the victory.
170 lb- Kolo Cornelius defeated Carlos Helms by Decision. Helms was dropped in the first two rounds, but held out for all three. Cornelius dominated from the clinch, and scored a big victory.
265 lb- Batshit Datsik defeated Cameron Black via TKO 0:18 round one. Datsik felt his opponent out, and dropped him with a massive uppercut. It takes more than a granite chin to take a punch from Datsik.
155 lb- Rafinha Capoeira defeated Joseph Montferrand via TKO in round two. Montferrand got off to a solid start, but Capoeira found his rhythm in the clinch. In round two, Capoeira waited patiently, rocked Montferrand with a lethal jab and finished him in the clinch.
155 lb- Misual Lalpa defeated Lithe Tarzan via Submission (Triangle) in round one. Tarzan scored with a takedown, but Lalpa went crazy on the bottom with five triangle attempts in rapid succession. The fifth one was the money shot, and Lalpa got the sub.
185 lb- Joni Vvit defeated Cassius Foreman Frazier by TKO in round two. Both men came out trading bombs. Vvit was cut in round one, but came out to kill in round two. Frazier was so shook up that he couldn't remember who knocked him out, and have props to Nopparat in the post fight interview!
265 lb- Hardcore Legend Jr. defeated Kirk Karwoski via Submission (Kimura) in round three. Karwoski took the first round, but Legend's relentless ground game wore Karwoski down. Too tired to fight off the sub attempts, Karwoski gave it up in round three.
