CWFL Legend Gaisafa Masoe.

Editorial by Ernie Porkchop

 AN INTERVIEW WITH GAISAFA MASOE.

Ernie: Hi Gaisafa, thanks for taking the time out of training to talk to us.

Masoe: No problem.

Ernie: Firstly let's start with your nickname "The Rock". Where did it come from? Any story behind it?

Masoe: There's a long tradition of polynesian athletes getting this nickname cause of our stocky builds. Then there's the original Rock, Rocky Marciano. I'm just the latest in a long line of guys too dumb to know we're too short to be heavyweights and too stubborn to go down.

Ernie: Coming off a huge decision win for the coveted CWFL heavyweight belt, how does it feel to not only retain the belt but also to win in your trilogy fight vs Uriel Amok?

Masoe: Feels good man. In fighting, and especially with heavyweights, anything can happen. When you win twice against the same guy, you show it was no fluke.

Ernie: Your next defence is already signed against Donzel Fortunado. There's a great chance to avenge one of your loses. How do you see this fight playing out?

Masoe: I don't know if I can see how the whole fight plays out. Like they say, everybody has a plan until they get hit in the face. But I don't think it's a secret that I plan to nullify his reach as much as I can and eat some shots if I have to so I can get inside and punch a hole through his chest.

Ernie: You've fought all but one of your career fights within the CWFL cage, that's approaching 50 fights. Are there any that stick out as your favourite or fun fights?

Masoe: The series I just ended with Uriel Amok. In our first fight, I lost but was coming on strong at the end and knocked him down right before the final bell. Then in our last fight I was able to make some adjustments and shut him out in what turned out to be CWFL's biggest event to date.

Ernie: Having spent so much time in the same org and being champion or a contender for what seems like forever, who would you say has been your toughest fight to date?

Masoe: I guess all the times I've been finished in the first round would have to rank evenly. With a 80% finishing rate and only one loss by decision, you know someone is going to sleep when I fight.

Ernie: Lastly, you've had some epic battles with the likes of Rusty Kuntz, Viljo Laine and Uriel Amok to name a few. At 35 years of age how long do you think you have left at the top? Can we expect "The Rock" to reign the CWFL heavyweight division for a long time yet? Is there a message you'd like to send out to Fortunado and any other up and comers trying to take the belt?

Masoe: It all depends on how I feel after each fight, but I don't think I have long left. I've won belts in two divisions, been in the biggest fights and events and am comfortably in the lead for most fights, most wins and most KO's in Cage Wars history. I'm one of the two remaining active fighters already in the org's hall of fame and I don't have anything left to prove.

That doesn't mean I'm coming with any less fire while I'm still here. You want my title? You'll have to get through the fists that have KO'd 28 other challengers.

Ernie: It's been a pleasure talking to you, thanks for your time and good luck with the upcoming fight. Is there anyone you'd like to give a shout out?

Masoe: Shout out to my alliance, Tycoon World Order.
