Hello fight fans, Merlin here being you coverage of this great Friday Night of fights presented to you by Fallen Champions at the Hardknocks here in Hilo. We have the Welterweight weight strap on the line plus nine other great match ups including highly thought of Light Heavyweight newcomer Chris Kampmann. So lets get things underway........
170lbs-Michael White(1-6)(0-1)vsJeff Wood(7-6)(4-5)-Wood by SUB in 1st Rd
170lbs-Jose Dimagiba(6-6)(4-5)vsSam Malone(6-4)(3-3)-Malone by SUB in 2nd
135lbs-Pedro Guilherme(2-2)(2-2)vsCas Josner(0-0)(0-0)-Josner by UD
135lbs-Kelvin Letchford(10-4)(1-1)vsGary Fragoso(1-0)(1-0)-Letchford by SD
205lbs-Jose Rodrigo(9-4)(3-4)vsMarkus Fittz(7-3)(6-2)-Fittz by UD
265lbs+-"Rampage"Matthew Beaver(9-3)(7-2)vsJosh"Lemon"Lyman(6-1)(1-0)
Our Main card kicks off with two of the BIG boys doing battle in the Super Heavyweight division. Matthew Beaver will be entering his 10th FC fight, and with all of his fights in the org ending in a knockout he'll make no secrets about his gamplan. He has knockout power in both hands also a pretty nice double leg takedown, and some very accurate and nasty ground n pound. Josh Lyman is a Mauy Thai master who just recently made the jump over to MMA, and so far looks like he is making the transition nicely boosting a 6-1 record including winning his last 3 in a row. He has some good clinch work, and works in his elbows and knees nicely from close range. This one is going to be a slugfest but I think that Lyman will be able to get the clinch and damage his opponent enough to earn himself the decision victory.
205lbs-#3."The Choker"Demetrius Colrane(14-7)(3-2)vs#8."Junior"Chris Kampmann(8-2)(0-0)
Demetrius Colrane after going 3-2 in the FC's Middleweight division decided to put on a little weight and give the Light Heavyweight divsion a shot where he should have a speed advantage. The 31 year old Ireland native is a sort of a brawler taking the fight to his opponent no matter where it takes place. With Colrane getting a little older it will be intereting to see if he keeps the same tactics going now that he is getting older. Chris Kampmann is making his FC debut after spending the majority of his pro MMA career at Valhalla before they closed up shop and King Arthur signed him to a 3 fight deal. The 24 year old is a pure striker and usually out works his opponent throwing a barrage of strikes from the opening bell. I think that Colrane will try to use his crazy style to get in close and land a takedown where he has the best chance of winning, but Kampmann will look to just pick him apart from distance.
155lbs-#2."Doomsday Device"Velimir Stojkovic(10-3)(1-1)vs#6.Damien Lok(7-4)(5-4)
We have a rematch between these two Lightweight contenders who are looking to get their name thrown in the title talk. Velimir Stojkovic can finish his opponent striking at distance or dirty boxing in the clinch with knockout power in all four limbs. He has been know to get a little too confident and leave himself open for counter attacks from his opponents, but with 8 of his wins and all 3 of his losses coming by a stoppage what else would you expect. Damien Lok is a 25 year old grappler whos wants to land the big takedown and work his ground n pound until his opponent is forced to leave an opening to save himself and Damien either locks up a submission or makes the ref stand them up. Velimir was able to finish Damien in under a minute last time that they fought but expect this one to be more of war, with the winner being the fighter that is able to execute his gameplin the best.
135lbs-#2.Joesph Ely(11-2)(7-1)vs#4.Blas"Sonic"Kavcic(10-2)(6-2)
Our Co Main event onf the event is the end of a Trilogy, as this will be the 3rd time this two warriors have stepped into the cage to face one another. Joesph is the ex 135lb Champion, and has one hell of a resume for being only 23 years old. He started off his career as a submission artist, but has slowly been rounding his game up to be more well rounded. Joesph will be coming in on a 3 fight win streak, and has 2 wins over his opponent already which should be a big confience booster. Blas Kavcic's only two career losses have come to Ely, so he wants nothing more than to get those losses revenged and possibly earn himself a title shot. Kavcic is a 27 year old BJJ expert with 9 submission victories to his name, with stats like those he is a dangerous opponent with anyone that goes to the ground with me. I think that Ely will dominate the fight standing, but it will go to the ground at some point and it will be interesting to see which fighter can be dominate in that area.
170lb Championship-C."The Dark Prince"Echart Tolle(19-3)(5-1)vs(#10 P4P)#3.Dominick Napolitano(11-5)(2-0)
In our Main Event of the night we have the Welterweight Championship on the line in this great battle. Echart Tolle is coming back to the Welterweight division after an unsuccessful run at the Light Heavyweight title in which case he was bested by Champion Torrelio Sacana. He is a submission artist at its finest, and with 5 of the night awards in his 6 FC fights he proven himself as one of the most exciting fighters on the roster. Dominick Napolitano made his FC debut against the hype machine Mike McGuire back at LL 24 and while being a big underdog he was able to earn a Decision victory, then knocked out the ex Champion Lot easily at FC 41 to set himself up with this title shot. Napolitano loves to throw some punishing leg kicks that he uses to just beat up his opponent's lead leg, but also has some great Boxing and clinchwork. I think that Dominick will keep this fight at distance and pick Tolle apart, but if Echart is able to secure a takedown this one may get interesting but I believe that there will be a new Champion at the end of the night.
There you have it folks a great night of fights, I'm exciting to see that 3rd Ely vs Kavcic as the first 2 were awesome fights, also that Tolle and Dominick fight should be a great event. I would like to think our sponsors The Dark Side Clothing and Pirates Powder nutrition. Also a special thanks to Mr Cropper at Hellraiser fightgear.
