Event Preview: HEROIC 124 Ferreira vs McGinle
HEROIC
2013-12-07, London, Wombley Arena
Author:

Hello everyone I am “Sunshine” Weston Markson along with my partner Rudy “The Box” Knife we are in the Heroic studio ready to discuss Heroic 124 which takes place this Saturday in London’s Wombley Arena.  Its going to be a huge night with a lot of great action we could see broken records and broken bones.

Rudy:  Yeah it believe we may see a little of both there are some big fights on this card including a couple of number one contender bouts, we are expecting over 93000 fans to attend the event and hundreds of thousands more watching at home.

MAIN EVENT

#4 Leonardo"Wrathchild" Ferreira (15-4)  v  #3 Anderson McGinley (15-4)

Weston:  The main event of Heroic 124 is a Heavyweight clash between 3rd ranked Anderson McGinley and 4th ranked Leonardo Ferreira.  This is Anderson’s first fight in Heroic but he comes in with a lot of hype and expectations its very rare to see someone come into Heroic ranked in the top 5 right of the bat but this is a guy who deserves the accolades.  Ferreira we last saw pulling off one of the bigger upset wins of the year becoming just the second manin Heroic to defeat former champion Kirk Laputa.  This fight will put the winner one step closer to a shot at the title, right now Marko Kersikov sits at the top of the mountain as number one contender, but who is next after he gets his shot at the title?   Most likely we will find out by putting the winner of this fight and the winner of the CO-MAIN EVENT together for a #1 contenders bout.  So this is  a HUGE fight for both men.

Rudy:  You damn right it is, and what a great fight im expecting, these two are so evenly matched in every area they even have identical records, the only difference being one of them has 13 knockouts and one has 14.  Expect this fight to take place in the center of the cage with both men pressing the striking action.  We are looking at to very accurate strikers Ferreira lands over 85% of his head punches, and Anderson lands 70%.   I believe this fight if it goes the distance will be decided in the clinch which Anderson has shown a better clinch game, but I don’t believe it last all 3 rounds someone is getting Knocked out.

Prediction:  I think Leonardo takes this one by late TKO.

CO-MAIN EVENT

#5 "The Dominator" Trent Pope (34-18)  v  #6 Gun Slinga (13-9)

Weston:  The CO-MAIN EVENT of the night is another heavyweight battle between 5th ranked Trent Pope and 6th ranked Gun Slinga.  The last time we saw Slinga he was getting the opportunity to live out his dreams with a shot at Heroic’s heavyweight championship.  Unfortunately for Slinga the fight didn’t go how he imagined it suffering a 2nd round Knockout at the hands of champion Muay Thai.    Looking for another chance at a title Slinga could set himself up well with a win over Pope, but “The Dominator” has no intentions on letting Slinga take his opportunities away from him.  Trent Pope has for long wanted one thing, Heroic’s Heavyweight Title, he has made everyone aware several times of his plans to be the champion, with the announcement that the winner of this fight is one win away Pope is drawing closer than ever for a chance at the title, and if he has it his way a rematch over the only fighter to beat him in Heroic Muay Thai.

Rudy:  This is going to be another great fight, two Heavyweight strikers throwing down for the fans and seeking the knockout.  These two men have 42 knockout wins between the two of them, over 80% of their wins have been by knockout, but what makes this fight even more interesting is both fighters have suspect chins,  between the two of them they have lost by knockout 16 times.  This like all their fights is going to be about which fighter lands the big shot first and is able to put the other away.  The longer the fight goes the more interesting it becomes I don’t think we will see a decision here but I have been wrong before.

Prediction:  I think Pope takes this one and inches closer to that coveted title shot.

MAIN CARD

#3 "The Lucid Nightmare" Kuma Nelson (17-2)  v  #4 Jesus Rios (33-10)

Weston:  The last fight on the main card is a Light-heavyweight fight between 4th ranked Jesus Rios and 3rd ranked Kuma Nelson.   Most likely the winner of this fight will be the next in line for the title shot.  For Kuma Nelson that means a second opportunity to win the title, and for Rios that would mean the chance to become a two time champion.  This fight is also a battle between the older guard and the younger, with Rios being 11 years Kuma’s elder.  If Rios wins that could show the older guys are still around and able to win big fights, but if Nelson maybe it’s a passing of the guard.

Rudy:  This is a incredible fight because of the storylines.   Nelson is a monster that has only lost twice in his career,  and Rios is a former champion who came back to Heroic to make another run towards the title he once held.  Rios might be old but he is still very good and dangerous, his style has helped him with longevity because he takes less risk than other fighters.  Rios will look to clinch with Nelson, wear him down with control and dirty boxing, until he secures the (T)KO.  Nelson will want to keep the fight standing too but avoid the clinch where Rios enjoys the majority of his success, Nelson lands 72% of his head punches and 60% of his leg kicks he will need this and his longer reach to keep Rios at distance and secure the (T)KO of his own.  Both of these guys get 64% of their wins by (T)KO so I don’t think either will hold anything back and play it safe to secure a shot at the title I expect a war so get ready this is my early pick for FOTN.

Prediction:  Nelson wins by TKO in the 2nd round.

#7 Fedor "Cannon" Vladimirov (18-7) v  #10 "Shogün" Lyoto Rua (29-8)

Weston:  The next fight on the main card is a heavyweight fight between 10th ranked Lyoto Rua, and 7th ranked Fedor Vladimirov.  Fedor is coming off the biggest shock of his career a 26 second knockout loss to current number once contender Marko Kersikov.  It was the first time Fedor has lost a fight in Heroic that was not a fight in which he was defending his title.  Now Fedor looks to rebound against the emergent Lyoto Rua.  Rua got off to a slow start in Heroic losing his first two fights, after sitting down and trying to figure out where he was going wrong he rebounded to win two big fights that has him emerging as a top 10 prospect for the first time.  Can Fedor rebound and make a 4th run at the title or will Rua defeat  the hall of famer and 3 time champion?

Rudy:  Well we know one thing its going to be a great fight because Fedor is in it.  A lot of people are sleeping on Rua but I have said since the day he signed with Heroic he could become champion.  Rua has serious power and a great ground game, he is one of the most versatile heavyweights in the division in that if he is getting beat on the feet he can get the fight to the ground with good success landing 41% of his takedown attempts.   Rua isn’t a very accurate striker landing in the 50s% on most strikes Fedor is accurate though landing nearly 70% of his strikes.  So I believe Rua will come out and test Fedor early if Fedor starts to land a few shots Rua will shoot in for a takedown and work to employ his world class GNP skills.  If Fedor can keep the fight standing though I expect him to use those accurate strikes to wear down Rua so he can land the big shot.  KNOCKOUT! That’s  what you can look for in this fight because 16 of Fedor’s 18 wins have been by knockout and 5 of his losses also by (T)KO.  Rua has won 21 of his 29 by knockout and 3 of his losses by (T)KO.   Don’t blink homies 33 fights between the two of these men have ended in the first round….

Prediction:  I think this fight ends in a TKO.  For who im not sure.

Nahka "The Jau Rocha" Vitonen (27-16)  v "Johnny" John Bourne (25-9-1)

Weston:  The first fight on the main card is a heavyweight fight between two talented heavyweights looking for their first wins in Heroic.  Vitonen came into Heroic with a lot of support and backing as a possible title contender.  After two straight losses he is looking to get that elusive first win inside of Heroic and begin proving to the world he is a world class fighter.  John Bourne is another one of those fighters that had a lot going for him and was looking like a contender, his first fight in Heroic was a disappointing submission loss.  Now we have two heavyweights that have all the skills to make it to the top looking to start their path towards becoming Heroic.

Rudy:  ARE YOU READY!!!!!! ..NO! I SAID ARE YOU READY! Ok then for the thousands in attendance and the trillions watching around the world ….LETS GET READY FOR A KNOCKOUT!!.  Its in the air im feeling a knockout ending to this fight, ok maybe im just taking an educated guess because 88% of these two fighters wins have come by (T)KO.  Yeah maybe the 46 knockouts between the two of them are speaking to me.  The fun thing about this fight is neither fighter is very accurate they both land around 55% of their total strikes, that means these two heavyweights go out and just brawl, they throw heavy hard shots gunning for and banking that they will eventually land the (T)KO strike, and it very often works.  I think this is going to be a great fight to lead the main card off with I cant wait to see this one.

Prediction:  I think Bourne wins by TKO
