TWW News Special Of The Year Edition

Editorial by Don Frye

TWW News - of the Year Special Edition.

Hello Fellow tycoons and welcome to a special edition of TWW news. Today we will be focusing on the of the year awards so far, with less than a month to go the race is really heating up. So let us start things off.

Manager of the year

1. Lance Templeton – Last year’s winner of the trophy has been on fine form this year yet again. Currently sitting with 4 #1 fighters in 4 different weight divisions is pretty insane and that is just for starters. Sat on the #1 position for most of the year Lance has been dominant as ever.

2. Sean McDonnel – King of the midgets, the new engine could not have been more of a blessing for Sean as he was one of the first to pick it up. Hitting #1 this year with both fighter and manager was the highlight of the year for him. Has been very consistent being able to hover around the top 50 for most of the year. Overall been a great year for him.

3. Matt Cave – Despite his recent quitting of the game, Matt had a fantastic start to the year trading with Lance for the #1 spot on numerous occasions. As the year went on he lost his consistency but managed to always find himself with a fighter hunting around the top. Sorry to see him leave the game hopefully will return one day.

Honourable Mentions – Chris Karter, Roger Kint, Bawon Samedi.

Fighter of the year

1. Womba – I would write his first name but I really don’t want to look at those 3 losses again to him. Womba has been an animal this year only losing once which he then avenged… twice. He has ripped to shreds the LHW division and to be honest with you has been one of the most talked about fighters since Tonal. Ladies and Gentlemen I present you the fighter of the year – Womba.

2. Carl Creel – I couldn’t make up my mind between #2 and #3 so here we go. I gave it to Creel because of his year and constantly fighting some of the top heavyweights Ascension could offer him. Undefeated so far this year Creel will look to cap it off with one more win. Awesome job by him this year, would have surely won it if it wasn’t for a guy like Womba at the top.

3. Neo Kable – I wouldn’t brand him the next Golden Glory, he reminds me more of a cross breed between Mjolnir and Glory to be honest. His wicked clinch abilities have been on show for everyone to see and also his sheer power has been unbelievable. Let’s hope he doesn’t have a Budo heart otherwise we could be looking at the dawn of a new era. This year was just the beginning for the just turned 26 year old.

Honourable Mentions – al Din, Narushima, Otso, Samba.

Org of the year

1. Evolution – What is org of the year? Top fighters – check, top events – check, most talked about org – check. This year it’s been hands down the most dominant org. Merging with Empire was the best thing for IMMA and it has proven that the super org is real. 2013 will be a struggle as older fighters will transition and having to bring in fresh blood but it is something all orgs will have to face.

2. Heroic – At this stage you are prolly crying out why not Ascension? I have a number of reasons but this is about Heroic. Ran by an awesome guy named Wilson who used to have a distracting picture of Hayden Panettiere as his DP. The org itself houses some of the most promising talent for the next generation. Wilson has already started making the transition early getting in these new young guns and they are now making it up the rankings. Awesome job this year my friend, awesome job.

3. UPG Vegas – Now people really must be going bonkers because it isn’t Syn here. Syn has only been about for 3-4 months again and as much as it is now a powerhouse this is for a full year of work. UPG showed the blueprint to the success of ID orgs in the future, and housed some of the top young guns. The owner was always a great guy to deal with and it held multiple events each week. The owner sadly could no longer run the org and had to merge it. Its legacy though lives on and I believe it deserves the #3 spot on that merit alone.

Honourable Mentions – Syn, Ascension, Immortals, Versus, GAMMA.

Alliance of the year

1. Convicted – Call me biased but I do believe it should go to the fun loving criminals. Another year of pissing excellence as Karter would say. For most of the year Convicted have had managers in the top 100, nearly all of them being in the top 20 at some point in the year. The top fighters this year have also been at the house of Convicted with numerous #1 fighters and 3 #1 p4p fighters (Ryo, al Din, Creel if I missed someone please correct me).

2. International Cocksmen – Pushed Convicted all the way in some months but could never win it. Despite losing some key members throughout the year they are still going strong. They have had some fighters at the #1 spot in divisions but it has been more of a transitional year for most of the managers despite this though they also had two fighters hit the #1 p4p spot (Powers and Carlton).

3. Tycoon World Order – This one might catch some of you by surprise. I think this has been a hell of a year for the alliance, and has really gone from strength to strength. Have had a few top managers, and also a #1 p4p fighter. They have currently the #1 p4p fighter and not only this but company wise also have Syn. They are an alliance to look out for next year.

Honourable Mentions – DILLIGAF, Broken Halo Pride, Finn Fighters

Fighters in weight divisions.

I would do a top 3 but it would take a shit ton of time so I am doing my top pick and maybe some honourable mentions.

Bantamweight – Rafa Silva – Pretty much ran through everyone he has had put in front of him this year. Still growing as a fighter will look forward to fighting even tougher opponents in the next year. Bantamweight has really been pretty weak this year with guys like Waru fighting at 145 where all the action has been at. Maybe Rafa might want to take a shot at those guys.

Honourable Mentions – Waru, Lomax, Mullen

Featherweight – Sly Randolph – This one was after a long deliberation but I had to give it to Sly. He beat Power twice this year in convincing fashion and has defeated countless others. It has been a revolving door at featherweight for most of the year which has kept it exciting. Really anyone from the honourable mentions could take this award I was just put on the spot.

Honourable Mentions – Danny Power, Hector Cabrera, Red Fox

Lightweight – Otso Jokinen – The GOAT of the lightweight division has basically ran through almost everyone he has fought. Despite a slip up here and there he has beaten everyone that has been put in front of him. Three major hiccups were to Power which he avenged, Scott who became irrelevant and most recently Bunn. Now looks to fight out the rest of the year and maybe next year we will see him retire as he is now getting up in age.

Honourable Mentions – Ed Gein, Gary Bunn, Erkki Vieri

Welterweight – Pluto Palhares – Apart from a very recent slip up Pluto was putting on a show at welterweight, and at middleweight. The three division champion has been on superb form showing off his wrestling skill and submission skills since the engine change looked unstoppable apart from tonight. Has Pluto been found out or was it a one off slip up? We will find out as he fights later this year but for now it will stay a question.

Honourable Mentions – Wade Wilson, Renan St Juste, Sinuhe Egyptian

Middleweight – Matt Murdock – I think it is pretty clear cut who wins this one. Matt has dominated the middleweight division and would be up for fighter of the year if it wasn’t for just some crazy fighters this year. He has flew under the radar as far as most fighters go and if it wasn’t for a late booking for Frost vs Womba would have love to have seen Matt and Womba square off again for Fighter of the Year. Lost once this year but avenged it via head kick. It was a dominating year for Murdock.

Honourable Mentions – Gary Player, Tyler Richards, Alexander Valentine

Light Heavyweight – Womba - Still don’t want to look up the record but I think everything that needs to be said has been said. Beaten everyone they are to be beaten at LHW. Fighter of the year.

Honourable Mentions – al Din, Narushima, Sackett, Bennett

Heavyweight – Carl Creel – Undefeated at Heavyweight this year. As with most years the heavyweight division has just turned into the Templeton weight division. Finding them fights can be a pain in the ass, trust me I know. Creel has just dominated everyone he has fought this year and deserves the trophy I believe just that little bit more than Samba due to the undefeated year.

Honourable Mentions – Samba, Grimm, Carlton

Super Heavyweight – Neo Kable – As above really, Neo has been hell of an impressive fighter this year and has looked unstoppable, looks a shoe in to win the Evo Fighter Of The Year for SHW. Just a very dominating performance for the rising star at a young age.

Honourable Mentions – Simon Williams, Willy Stoppers, Rinky Spider.

That’s all for us this year with the major awards discussed. TWW news would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, we will return again after the New Year so look out for us then. From Tim, Skip and Stephen, Goodnight!
