Fighter profile of Karate Kid by Aylib 2.0

The fighter known as Karate Kid did not grow up to be a fighter, at least not according to his father, Tetsuya Ikeda. The elder man, himself a black belt in Japanese Jujutsu (not to be confused with BJJ) states that the boy grew up eager to learn, curious about the world around him.

Since later stages of toddlerhood, K.K. showed promise in languages, rapidly expanding his Japanese vocabulary, and also picking up Korean from the Zainichi Koreans residing nearby.

As the child grew, he also impressed with his ability to transform watercolors into serene scenes that belied their authors age.

According to Mr. Ikeda, his son never got into trouble at school, as he was taught discipline and restraint at the local dojo, where sportsmanship and respect were taught.

During high-school years, despite being a strong student and receiving commandable grades, K.K. never did pursue college, as the potential of becoming a pro fighter seemed more and more reasonable; with each win, his amateur record improved, confidence rose, and the effects of family members advice faded.

Not one to disobey his parents and wise enough to realize that there is life after pro fighting, a compromise was reached--K.K. announced that he is enrolling into Berkeley beginning with Spring Semester of 2014, with an undecided major at this time. Referencing his idol Takeya Mizugaki, who has a Masters Degree, declared that it is not impossible, rattling off a list of MMA fighters with college education, several holding advanced degrees.

On December 9th, 2013 K.K. tweeted that he registered for classes, and also took a placement test and it registered a 124 IQ. K.K. said that he will remain dedicate to training and promised a more cerebral approach to fighting.
