INSANITY 6: Ashes to Ashes

The first fight of the night is a Welterweight bout between Mike Lopez and Royce Gracie, and for the opener it's a long 3-round bout that goes the distance with neither men really impressing a lot, but Lopez gets the nod from the judges and takes him his first career win.
Next up, Heavyweights. Turk Assambad Vs. Rufus Alfredsson. After the bell rings Alfredsson is quick to get cut open by Turk, and it goes downhill for him fast as he gets some clinch punishment and after some hooks he goes down, Assambad gets stopped by the referee and this one's over, the fans are loving it though and Turk got an ovation for that brutal victory.
Fedor Emelianenko Vs. Frank Mir in the heavyweight division. Fedor knows his gameplan, and he goes to the ground early with a strong takedown, from there on Fedor quickly works the transition game and flies into full mount. With Mir seated against the cage he is smothered and he can't stop the anaconda choke being locked in, he refuses to tap though and he takes a little nap thanks to Fedor who puts him to sleep. Dominant submission win from Fedor.
Fourth fight of the night is Johny Hendricks Vs. Frankie Rock in the middleweight division. Rock gets an early takedown, but not much happens and the ref stands them up. But he gets another takedown into side control and this time he is going to finish it, he does so 4 minutes in with a picture perfect armbar that forces Hendricks to tap out.

Heavyweight time, and it's Jake Mahone and Kevin MacOwan who are going to duke it out in hardcore MMA action. And the big story of the match is MacOwan wanting to go blow for blow, but failing miserably as he gets outboxed by his foe and Jake Mahone pounces on it by raining punches onto his opponent like they are Oprah gifts. Mahone easily wins with an exciting KO that got the fans to their feet!
Tom Maverick Vs. Syphon Filter next, and Syphon Filter is thirsty for the blood of his foes, going into the clinch works as he works over Maverick with a lot of dirty boxing and with a viciously vicious right hand he drops Maverick who hopelessly tries to defend himself but it's not enough and the referee calls this fight, Filter gets a dominant TKO to continue his winning streak.
And now, time for lightweight fighters. Jacob Laws and Rich van Winkle want to bloody their fists a bit and the fans surely won't mind that one bit. Their bloodlust gets quenched early as Laws gets a mean clinch punch that splits his head open like a watermelon and he reacts by pulling guard and stalling for a referee standup. Van Winkle is just moving around like he's walking on air and peppering his opponent with jab after jab. The second round is more of the same as Van Winkle is simply overclassing his foe knocking him down and having him get up again. Eventually Laws gets a lefty in the schnoz and that's all she wrote and Van Winkle gets a nice TKO victory avenging his loss from Insanity 4.
The final match before the main event matches is Middleweight fighters You Lose and Devin Myers. Devin Myers starts out strong as he brings the fight to the ground and controls his foe pretty easily, he tries a submission but it fails, but he wins the first round quite easily. The second round starts with a shocker as You Lose goes for a takedown, but he shakes off a few sub attempts and has control of Myers, getting mount he pushes him up against the cage and lets loose on his face battering it heavily causing a cut to appear and it to open up into a massive gash that is pouring blood at an alarming rate, the referee calls in the doctor and he quickly sees that this can't continue and You Lose wins a very impressive comeback victory!

Guess what time it is now, that's right it's co-main event time! 205 division between Randy Couture and Lotus Gracie, the bookies saw this as a big fight that could go the distance. Couture goes for teh takedown and gets it, he realises that he left his gameplan at home and Lotus locks in the triangle, Couture taps out and this one is over in 22 seconds... Gracie looks great with a spectacular submission from the bottom, and Couture looked like a complete chump.
And now, the main event between Heavyweight prospects Tommy Martinez and Lim Yo Hwan. Both making their debuts in Insanity, this should be an interesting bout. Long story short, a quick takedown by Martinez and a lot of submission attempts by both guys, Martinez is the one who gets an armbar and takes home a first round submission victory, he shows why he is a former champion and will no doubt be looking to do the same in Insanity!

KO of the night:              Jake Mahone
