UPF 30: Cena versus Wilson was a mixed martial arts event held by Ultimate Pit Fighting on February 2, 2014 at Hayashi's Lounge in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.


 


 


 


-[Welterweight]: Mark McGilivary vs. Pedro Silva


-[Outcome]: Pedro Silva scored every takedown that he attempted in this grueling fight but once on the ground, Mark McGilivary dominated with positional control and ground and pound. He was unable to score any of his ten attempted submissions but he dominated otherwise. Mark McGilivary def. Pedro Silva via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).


 


-[Lightweight bout]: Urban Fox vs. Dwayne Griffin


-[Outcome]: This was a brutal battle of the knees. Both fighters landed ample knee strikes in the clinch throughout the fight but Urban Fox dominated with his relentless attack. Urban Fox def. Dwayne Griffin via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).


 


-[Lightweight bout]: Brian McCarthy vs. John Sy


-[Outcome]: In the first round, Brian McCarthy dominated by taking John Sy to the ground and out wrestling him. In the second round, Johny Sy managed to maintain a clinched position and although McCarthy fired back with knees and elbows, John Sy rocked him with brutal strikes. In the third round, McCarthy scored another takedown and managed to grind out the round. Brian McCarthy def. Johny Sy via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).


 


-[Welterweight bout]: Antoine Petasse vs. Johnny Charco


-[Outcome]: Johnny Charco shot in for an early takedown and fought a positional battle with his fellow grappler before locking in the fight ending kneebar. Johnny Charco def. Antoine Petasse via Submission (Kneebar) at 1:58 of round 1.


 


-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Conan Howard vs. Jack Tombstone


-[Outcome]: These two brawlers met in the middle of the cage for a round and a half and duked it out. Jack Tombstone won for just the second time in his lengthy UPF career. Jack Tombstone def. Conan Howard via KO (Strikes) at 1:14 of round 2.


 


-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Andrew Soltys vs. Diego Lindien


-[Outcome]: Diego Lindien came out, clinched up with Soltys, and pounded him right out. Pretty straight forward. Diego Lindien def. Andrew Soltys via TKO (Strikes) at 1:32 of round 1.


 


-[Heavyweight bout]: Ivan Vanko vs. Ben Breeze


-[Outcome]: Former heavyweight champion Ivan Vanko shattered the winning streak of Ben Breeze. Through effective wrestling, he managed to shut Breeze down. Through a guillotine choke, he managed to smash his hopes and dreams. How nice! Ivan Vanko def. Ben Breeze via Submission (Guillotine) at 4:20 of round 3.


 


-[Lightweight Championship bout]: Dark Hunter(c) vs. Chad Mendes


-[Outcome]: This fight was a complete shut out victory for Dark Hunter. Chad Mendes seemed to think that he could score a trip takedown from the clinch and even encouraged fighting along the cage. The champion was simply too much for him in and out of the clinch. Dark Hunter def. Chad Mendes via TKO (Strikes) at 3:46 of round 1 to retain the undisputed lightweight championship of the world!


 


-[Light-heavyweight bout]: Cain Cormeir(c) vs. Mohammed Jihad


-[Outcome]:


 


First Round -


 


In the first round, Cain Cormeir shot for an immediate takedown and seemed content to ride it out with ground and pound. For his part, Jihad was working for submissions and trying to advance position.


 


Second Round -


 


Cormeir immediately clinched with Jihad and took him down again. This time, however, Jihad managed to reverse the position and score with ground and pound of his own.


 


Third Round -


 


This time it was Jihad that scored with an early takedown and worked his ground and pound. Cormeir reversed the position with a beautiful scissor sweep but fell into the full guard and guillotine choke of Mohammed Jihad. Mohammed Jihad def. Cain Cormeir via Submission (Guillotine) at 3:58 of round 3.


 


 


-[Heavyweight Championship bout]: Felix Cena(c) vs. Mickey Wilson


-[Outcome]:


 


First Round -


 


Felix Cena dominated the first round of this fight with his wrestling and his ground and pound, plain and simple.


 


Second Round – Samesies.


 


Third Round – Samesies.


 


Fourth Round – Same as above except Felix Cena did manage to stand up briefly before getting taken back down again.


 


Fifth Round – About midway through this round, the referee stood this fight up and Cena capitalized. He pushed forward with punches and kicks that rocked the challenger and put him away. Mickey Wilson was four seconds away from claiming the heavyweight strap. Felix Cena def. Mickey Wilson via TKO (Strikes) at 4:56 of round 5 to retain the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world!
