Event Preview: Barbarian FC 7
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)
2014-02-08, Rio de Janeiro, The Underground - Rio
Author:Tony Rossi

Live from The Underground in Rio de Janeiro Barbarian Fight Club is proud to present Barbarian FC 7! As always ten great fights have been scheduled but the fight I am most looking forward to seeing is Jermain Johnson versus Brandon Loveladdy in a Heavyweight showdown. I recently sat down with Jermain “Big Nasty” Johnson for an interview which has been made available to all of you on Barbarian Fight Club’s Smack Talk Thread. Of course for this event MANGO nutrition will be our partner, so I would like to remind everyone to pick up all of their nutritional needs from MANGO nutrition.

Preliminary Bout Number 1 -Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Bruno "Bear" Oliveira (0-0) {0-0} versus Marcos "Porkchop" Cesar (0-2) {0-1}

Bruno is set to make his debut and the Muay Thai fighter should have a great chance to win if the fight stays standing. Hopefully for him in these weeks and days leading up to the fight he has been working on his takedown defense. He is going to want to mix up the strikes well so there is little to no chance Cesar will be able to get him to the mat. It has been a rough beginning to the career of Marcos Cesar losing his first two fights. The key to victory in this next fight for the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt obviously will be to score the important takedown. If he can get it I don’t see much of a chance for Oliveira to win this fight. The way I see it going though is Bruno getting the knockout early in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2 -Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Diego Fenandes (0-0) {0-0} versus Noob Saibot (0-0) {0-0}

Fenandes is the older more rounded fighter while his nineteen year old opponent is a strait up striker. Fenandes should look to exploit Sailbot’s wrestling and Jiu Jitsu in this one. I think he should go into this thinking I must get an early takedown if he wants to win this fight. Saibot as stated before is a striker with a back round in boxing and Muay Thai and he should be looking to keep his distance from Diego. Leg kicks to keep the fight at distance and some punching combinations mixed in with some head kicks could put Fenandes into some real danger. I like how Noob has worked so hard at the striking aspect of his game, and he is ahead of most nineteen year old fighters in this department. I think Saibot will win this fight by TKO in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 3 -Heavyweight Fight (265)

Fernando "Nando" Ferraz (0-0) {0-0} versus Nuno "Facas" Facas (0-1) {0-0}

Nando will be making his debut tonight and will want to do anything possible to get Facas to the floor. He is not a typical wrestler or Jiu Jitsu guy, but I feel his only shot to win will be on the ground. I am not sure if he will be able to finish so maybe an approach looking to just score points and minimize damage could be the way to go for Nando. Nuno is a boxer that will be looking to take off Fernando’s head. He lost his first fight by submission early in the first round, and will do whatever it takes to not let that happen again. He will want to turn this fight into a boxing match, and I think he will. I am picking Nuno to win this fight by knockout in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4 -Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Ernesto "La Muerte" El Angel (1-2) {1-1} versus Felix ""THE Brazilian KILLER"" Anderson (0-0-1) {0-0-0}

Ernesto is a wrestling ground and pound styled fighter, and he will have a huge advantage in the wrestling department so that has to be music to his ears. He has been working on his boxing lately but it is nowhere near crisp enough for him to not want the take down right from the word go. He was off to a bad start but recently Ernesto has turned things around, and he will be looking for his second win in as many fights. Felix ""THE Brazilian KILLER"" Anderson will need to be prepared for those shoot attempts as he will not want El Angel laying on top of him. If he stuffs one and can lock in the double under hooks to get this fight to the clinch he could really takeover this fight. Most of Anderson’s training as been in Muay Thai and he will want the knockout here. I got my sights set on Ernesto to win by TKO in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 5 –Light Heavyweight Fight

Rodrigo "Hell Hand" Medeiros (1-0) {0-0} versus Mauricio "Mancha" Moura (1-2) {0-1}

Hell Hand is a well-rounded fighter and he will be looking to show off his striking skills in this fight. We did not get to see much of him in his only fight as he landed a combination that won him the fight in just nine seconds. He would like to that again, but if he can’t he will need to keep this fight standing. Mauricio is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and that’s about all he brings to the table. He is currently one and two, and both of his losses came by knock out in the first round. He is going to need to avoid the strikes of Medeiros and get this fight to the floor quick. I don’t think he will be able to so I am picking Rodrigo “Hell Hand” Medeiros to win by knockout in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 1 -Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Joao Paulo (1-0) {0-0} versus Tim "The One" Thedford (0-0) {0-0}

Paulo has little to no advantages in this fight and that could become a huge problem. He will have only a slight advantage in the wrestling department and he may want to try and use that to get a decision victory in this one. In his only fight so far Joao got a big submission victory but I am not sure he will be able to submit Tim “The One” Thedford. Tim will have a huge upper hand when it comes to striking. He has a very extensive back round in Muay Thai and should be happy to use kicks or a clinch to put a hurting on Paulo. I don’t think this one will be close and I am picking Tim Thedford to win this by knockout in the first round maybe even by a highlight reel head kick.

Main Card Bout Number 2 –Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Michael "Destructor" Tyson (1-0) {0-0} versus Victor "The Phenom" Hugo (1-0) {0-0}

Tyson is a wrestler and Muay Thai striker and he loves the clinch. In his only fight Michael was able to grab the clinch early and he destroyed his opponent with punches and a very nice elbow that also drew blood. Once he goes for the clinch against Hugo he will need to protect himself from guard being pulled. Victor Hugo is a wrestler and a submission fighter currently holding a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Hugo won his only fight nice and early as well, but by submission. He completely dominated his opponent and will be looking to do much of the same. This fight will be interesting because if Tyson stuffs a takedown Hugo could end up in a bad position inside of the clinch. If Tyson cannot control the clinch Hugo will be able to pull guard and put Tyson where he does not want to be, the ground. I am going to pick Hugo to win this very close fight by submission in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 3 -Super Heavyweight Fight (265+)

Royler Gracie (1-0) {0-0} versus Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira (1-0) {0-0}

We don’t see to many Super Heavyweight fights since it is such a shallow division, so this will be a treat. Both of these fighters are coming in at the same age, same record, and exact same back round so it will be hard to predict a winner. Both guys are wrestlers and brown belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so expect a grappling war in this one. Gracie won his only fight by decision and he only attempted one submission in the three round fight. That was a little shocking to me seeing he has the BJJ back round. Nogueira won his fight with a submission in the first round, and looked great on the floor. He was pulled into guard and quickly he worked to get mount, and then got the big submission win. I think Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira will win this fight since he seems to be slightly better on the ground. I will guess a submission victory in the second round.

Co Main Event And Main Card Bout Number 4-Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Dj Paul (4-1) {0-1} versus Generic "The Python" Brazilian (1-0) {0-0}

Dj Paul was on a roll before entering Barbarian Fight Club as he had won all four of his fights, and had a stoppage in all of them. In his last fight which was his only Barbarian Fight Club bout Paul was submitted by a very similar fighter to his next opponent. Paul will once again have the better wrestling and he needs to put that to use against Brazilian. Generic is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and will welcome a ground fight. In his only fight Generic got a submission win in the first round. Clearly this will come down to whom can get the submission pulled off, and I think Paul will bounce back from his last fight with a vengeance. I am going to pick Paul to win this fight via submission in the first round.

Main Event and Main Card Bout Number 5 -Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Jermain "Big Nasty” Johnson (3-0) {1-0} versus Brandon "The White Tiger" Loveladdy (3-0) {1-0}

This is the fight I want to see the most on this event. I think Loveladdy will need to win this fight to get into the Heavyweight tournament while I think Johnson win, lose, or draw will still be number on or number two ranked in the division. Since Johnson does not have as much to lose will he take this fight seriously? He told me so in an interview I did with him this week that has been made available to the public. Loveladdy is going to want to try and trick or force Johnson into fighting his fight, which is a boxing match. Brandon mixes his head and body shots up well, but that is all we have seen from him in all three of his fights. Johnson should be looking for a takedown and make Loveladdy work from his back. Even though Johnson can strike it will not be wise for him to get into a punching match with Brandon or he will be done quickly. This is a hard fight to predict, but I am going to go with Brandon "The White Tiger" Loveladdy just because of the respect I have for his manager who is a veteran in the Tycoon community. I think Brandon will come in with a strong game plan and win this fight by TKO in the late stages of round one.

That will wrap this event up and I would like to thank you for joining me. Please pick up any supplement needs from MANGO nutrition. Also if you would like to comment on this or anything else going on in BFC please stop by the Smack Talk Thread located on the forums. This event preview will be there with a new sleek look so check it out.
