How are you doing man? Its so good to finally meet you. I have personally been a huge fan of yours since my dad began writing a long time ago. You were the P4P king and no one looked close to stopping you at least not in my eyes. So, hows the training and fighting going?
Training and fighting is going well. After my recent losses, I'm doing my best to patch up some holes in my game to make sure that I reach the top again.
If you werent fighting what is one thing you would want to do with your life?
My focus is just on my gameplan and how I'm going to win. That's the only thing on my mind. If I wasn't fighting, I'd be teaching at an academy. MMA is my life.
Now lets get a little more serious, in the past you and Bokhari have had a little rivalry, would the two of you ever go toe to toe one more time? Best outta three i guess you could say?
I'd love to fight Bokhari again. We fought each other at times where MMA looked very differently than it does now. I don't know what caused everyone to only try counter-fighting during our first fight or why everyone started gassing out, myself included, within a few minutes during our second fight but hopefully our third fight would go my way.
You are the current NFC champion, what kind of pressure does that put on you?
I'm very proud to be the NFC champion. I see the belt as another means of doing what I've always tried to do: fight the best in the world. I've lost some fights thanks to that but I'd rather lose a few times than be a coward and duck good opposition. When I was #1 P4P, I see that ranking as a title that needs to be defended against the #1 contender. Even though I've lost that ranking, I still feel the duty to fight the best.
You are only 25 years old right now, you reached the hall of fame and was the number 1 pound for pound fighter for a long time whats next? Do you want to go after that number 1 spot once more?
Regaining the #1 P4P ranking will always be my goal until the day I retire.
Youre next opponent Cedric Myton is the former Bloodbath champion and has only been to a decision 3 times in his career, how do you feel going into this fight? What are you nervous about and what do you feel confident about?
Considering my recent KO losses, I'm most concerned with Myton's heavy hands. I've been training to make sure that my own heavy hands reach his chin first.
For you as a fighter, what was it like to recieve your first loss? I know i as well as all the other fans who grew up watching you were heartbroken, but when you left that cage that night and the cameras turned off, what happened?
I was disappointed when I lost for the first time but as much as I'd like to never lose, it's inevitable when you're constantly fighitng the best guys. I won't let the pain of losing change my will to fight the best.
Finally Golden Glory, what are three tips you could offer a young fighter who would want to be like you one day?
I'd suggest being strategic with your training, scouting your opponent for weaknesses, and being fully rested on fight day.
