Event Preview: Barbarian FC 10
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)
2014-03-29, Rio de Janeiro, The Underground - Rio
Author:Tony Rossi

Barbarian Fight Club and MANGO nutrition have lined up an amazing night of fights for us and it will be headlined by the heavyweight title fight. Barbarian Betting will have the odds for this event for all of your gambling needs. Before you look at the odds though let’s look at the fights and see what’s worth betting on.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Epic Gracie (2-1) {0-0} versus Brian Pereira (0-0) {0-0}

Epic Gracie lost his last fight which ended his undefeated streak. He was two and o before the loss and he is looking to rebound in this fight. He will have some trouble rebounding though because this is a bad match up for him. He is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and he got both of his wins by submission. Pereira will be making his professional debut and he is a brown belt in BJJ. He should welcome a ground battle as he is slightly better on the ground. I think this will be a battle contested on the ground the entire time and I have Pereira winning by submission at the end of the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Conor "Notorious" Mcgregor (1-1) {0-1} versus Matheus "The ´´Natal Kid``" Peixoto (3-2) {2-1}

We have the typical striker versus grappler match up in this one. Mcgregor is the striker who is well trained in Muay Thai. He should look for head kicks and clinch but he needs to worry about guard being pulled. Peixoto is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and all three of his wins came by submission. He will be looking to get this fight to the ground as quickly as possible. I don’t think Matheus will be able to get this fight to the ground though so I have Mcgregor winning by TKO in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Chembakwu "Tiger" Azuibike (1-3) {0-3} versus Roan Carneiro (6-4) {1-3}

Both of these guys had all their success before coming to Barbarian Fight Club. They have a combined record of one and six since they signed on with BFC. Azuibike is on a three fight losing streak and the only way for him to break it is to stay off the ground. He will need to avoid each takedown and get a strong clinch to win this fight. Roan is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and he has a six and four record. All six of his wins came by submission so obviously he will want the fight down on the mat. I think he will be able to get the fight down even if he has to pull guard out of the clinch. I have Roan winning this fight in the second round by submission.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Nonito Melo (2-0) {2-0} versus Damian "Dami" Silva (3-2) {2-2}

This will be a very interesting matchup for both of these fighters. Melo has a good stand up game and he has proven he can avoid the takedowns. Both of his wins came by decision as he went out with a game plan and executed it to perfection. He will look to avoid the takedowns and land some good strikes once again in this one. Silva is a purple belt with not much other strengths. He will want the fight to go to the ground but I am not sure he will be able to get it there. If he can get it to the ground he should win, but I don’t see it hitting the mat until it is to late. I am picking Melo to win by decision after three rounds of him outclassing Silva.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Super Heavyweight Fight (265+lbs)

War Machine (2-0) {1-0} versus Thor "The Titan" Guerrero (1-1) {1-1}

This should be a close contested ground battle. The winner should be decided by Machine’s submission defense. Both of these guys are wrestlers and I think Machine has the better wrestling so on the ground he will be able to get the better positioning. Thor is the far better Jiu Jitsu fighter and he should be able to pull off a submission from anywhere on the mat. That’s why we will need to see Machine’s submission defense and I think it will be good enough to get through this fight. I am picking Machine to win by TKO in the early third round.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Genki Sudo (3-2) {2-2} versus Steven "El Terrible" Perkins (1-2) {1-1}

In my opinion Sudo has not been beat by anyone other them himself. I think both of his losses came by him making bad decisions. He did win his last fight but can he get over from beating his self. This is almost an even matchup but Sudo is slightly better on the ground so he should look to get the fight there. I am afraid he will do something wrong like keep it standing or stand up so I am picking Perkins to win by TKO in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Aviya Sherman (3-0) {3-0} versus Dan Stall (1-0) {1-0}

This should be a great fight. Both of these guys have had all of their fights in Barbarian Fight Club and they have a combined record of four and o. Sherman has the experience on his side as he has had three of those four fights. I think Sherman will be able to use his experience to get this fight to the ground and from there he should be able to dominate the fight. If Stall can keep it standing though he will be able to win this fight with ease. It is a great match up and I have to pick the experience level and go with Sherman to win the fight by submission in the second round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Pedro "Quick Sand " Alvarez (2-0) {1-0} versus Jhon "Dragon" Machida (2-1) {1-1}

Alvarez will be putting his undefeated record on the line in this fight. The wrestling purple belt has won both of his fights by submission but he has a very underated stand up game. Machida is also a ground fighter and he is slightly better on the ground. Machida has no striking what so ever so he should not try and stand up at all. I think Alvarez will relies how much better he is on the feet so he will look to keep it there. I have Alvarez winning in the third round by TKO.

Co Main Main Card Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Ryan Conner (4-0) {0-0} versus Sheldon "The Doctor" Cooper (4-2) {4-2}

Fights are always a little better when there is trash talk going on. Conner and Cooper have talked a little trash to each other so it does have intrest. Conner is currently undefeated and he has won four fights, all by TKO. He will want to stay off the ground to keep his winning streak going. Cooper is a submission specialist as he has earned four wins all by submission. He will want to get Conner to the ground but I think Conner has great wrestling and he will not allow it. I got Conner winning this fight by TKO in the second round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Title Fight (265lbs)

Rodrigo "One Hit Ko" Tyson (6-2) {4-1} versus Bryan "The Organo Natural" Chua (4-0) {4-0}

This should be the most exciting fight on the card tonight. Both of these fighters are sluggers that are not afraid to mix it up. I am predicting a slug fest for the heavyweight title. All six of Tysons wins have come by TKO or knockout while all four of Chua’s wins have come by TKO. This fight will come down to who has the better chin and since Chua is undefeated I am going to pick him to take the title off of Tyson. I think Tyson has the better manager and they could out game plan Chua in this fight, but that will not matter as it will still turn into a slugfest. I got Chua to win in the first round by TKO.
