Light Heavyweight Championship
(Champ) Landon Austin vs. (4.) Keiichi Yamada
DFC P4P king, the LHW champion Landon "The Prince of Punch" Austin will defend his belt for 6th time against Yamada. Landon Austin might regardless of the outcome we might see Austin in DFC cage for the last time. This upcoming fight will be last fight on his contract and the future of Austin is open. Austin's manager told MMA media that Austin has been thinking about taking break from the competition to focus on training holes in his game and then move to bigger organization, but nothing is set on stone yet.
DFC president Wessel Error commented about the situation:
"We are still working on the negoation situation with Austin. Of course we are trying to keep the champion on the organization, but at this point Austin and his team are keeping the ball. All we cando right now is to wait. Light Heavyweight division has been getting deeper lately so if Austin vacants the title it opens door to new champion."
Keiichi "Chibi" Yamada could ruin the plans of Austin by taking him out in Destiny 51. This 21-year old japanese has been as impressive as any in his short DFC career. In his debut he defeated Loves To Spooge via first round armbar and his 2nd bout he caught Aatish Sunuwar in kimura 3 seconds before the buzzer. The submission game of Yamada might be his biggest chance against the champion. Yamada is good all around but the only visible edge is his BJJ so getting the fight to the ground might be vital to Yamada. Yamada is the underdog in this fight, but lately the champions has been really struggling to defend their belts so who knows whats gonna happen in Saturday.
Yamada was pretty open about his gameplan when he talked about the match:
"I know I'm a underdog but I have improved takedown and ground game. If the champ hit me hard,I will never give up to submit him."
Heavyweight
(2.) Coconut Sprinkles vs. (4.) Jack Hollow
Former DFC heavyweight champion Coconut Sprinkles will face the latest victim of the HW champion Vincent Mars, Jack Hollow. Sprinkles is coming from 1st round armbar finish against Felippe Francisco. Sprinkles is very close to get his hands on Mars for 3rd and reclaim his belt, but he has serious task ahead this saturday. Sprinkles and Hollow are very evenly matched and its hard to say who is the favourite here, few factors the look for is probably Sprinkles's expectional wrestling and Hollow's black belt in BJJ.
Jack Hollow is coming from a loss to reigning champion Mars. The fight vs. Mars must have been very dissapointing to him as it took only 1min 57seconds to get KO'd by Mars. Hollow has amazing chance to get right back to top of the foodchain if he can defeat number 2 ranked Sprinkles. Both of these two have 2 loses in their career and both of the losses has come vs. Vincent Mars so that makes this fight very interesting. Neither Sprinkles or Hollow have never let the fight go to judges scorecards in their career so we can expect fireworks and big time finish in this fight.
