 Heroic 164: New Era

Los Angeles
6th July

HEROIC will roll on into Los Angeles Memorial Colussuseum and will hope for all 93607 seats to be filled. After Heroic 163 only had a paltry 2 finishes in 10 fights, it is expected that these fighters will look to put on a show and continue their rise to greatness. Without further ado, I will preview the main cards 5 fights for the show. Starting with the Main Event.

Mark Kyle vs. "The Shadow" Shavo Odin 265+lbs TITLE FIGHT

If there is a man who is known for brute power, then Mark Kyle is power. He has won 21 out of 23 wins from (T)KO and being a big heavy man he is scary. He possesses razor sharp elbows as well winning a fair few fights from way of forcing a doctor to step in due to his opponents gashes. He has great power and deadly Muay Thai. He is ranked number 3 in his weight class and under his new manager, Chris Meat, he is undefeated even showing a submission game. So he has shown himself to be a dangerous foe anywhere in the fight, stand with him and he will KO you, clinch him he will bleed you and take him down and he could submit you. He has however, been finished 6 times via strikes but that could be due to him fighting at heavyweight or superheavyweight for his career. He will be facing the best fighter at 265+lbs, and the reigning 2565+lbs champion for HEROIC, Shave Odin. He is managed by a great manager in Blunts Allday for his whole career so will have perfected his game planning skills. Having great power and a well versed MMA game he will be a dangerous foe for anyone. He has also been finishes by strikes 5 times and that could be due to fighting with the big boys or fighting with a fragile chin. In this fight I believe someone will be seeing stars and eating canvas and I think that the younger Odin will outfight his elder by 5 years and retain his new shiny belt.

Prediction: Odin via KO

Chung Quela vs. Wei “Dragon” Pei 265+lbs

In a fight that could determine the number 1 contender to the evenings main event title fight, this fight has a lot on the line. Quela is a monster, there isn’t one area where he lacks great skills. That said it would be his Muay Thai that is the best of his skills, and he is great at keeping a fight at distance and not throwing everything into all of his shots so he is a smart game planner. He does have power in his hands, winning 19 times via (T)KO so he hasn’t got pillows for fists. Now, onto Pei, he is another fighter who doesn’t really have a weak spot in his game but it will be his boxing that is feared the most throughout the division as all of his 15 wins are via (T)KO and he often finds himself separating his opponents from consciousness with just one punch. This will be his first fight foe HEROIC so eyes will be on him to make an impression. With both of these fighters possessing a better than average chin, it will be hard to KO the other but then again both of them have ridiculous power. I find myself siding with Pei for this one via yet another KO

Prediction: Pei via KO

"Punisher" Peter Cabreros vs. Mateus Gracie 170lbs

Cabreros has fought for most of his career with GAMMA but now finds himself with HEROIC. He is a fighter whom has almost as many wins via (T)KO than he does decision, with 21 via (T)KO and 22 via decision. That could be a fault for him as he allows his opponent to stay in the fight but his boxing is among the best at 170 and under new manager, Clark Kent, he seems to have found a knack for finishing again. He has been around the block a few times and he doesn’t have the best upside to him being 37 but he is still a danger in any fight with his dangerous boxing and lightning speed. With a name like Gracie it isn’t surprising to find that his skills are best deployed on the ground. With a black belt in BJJ and some Olympic level wrestling he is a dynamo on the ground. He does lack standing skills but that’s not to say he is useless there, but it will be no secret that coming into the fight he will want to drag it to the floor and snatch a limb or neck and tap his opponent. This may be the last chance to reach the top for both fighters as they have had a fair few losses and they are the wrong side of 30 each so its do or die for them on the 6th of July. My thinking is that Cabreros will expose the chin of Gracie but not get the finish but ride the fight to a decision.

Prediction: Cabreros via UD

Shane Carwin vs. Bagful "Of" Donkeys 265+lbs

Another fight with the big boys of HEROIC’s SHW division. Both of these guys have pretty much identical skills sets as they both have huge power, with Carwin winning 22 times via striking stoppage and Donkeys winning 19 times. The boxing on both men is some of the best in the business and they aren’t afraid to use it to KO opponents left and right. The problem with the both of them is a chin that is easily touchable and not too strong as from 20 losses, Carwin has tasted 17 defeats via (T)KO and Donkeys has been finished by strikes         8 times from 12 losses. So this fight will come down to who can hit the other one first and with both guys having near enough the same skill sets it the very definition of a ‘toss up’ fight. If I had to choose a winner it would be Donkeys as he is  much lighter than his opponent and will likely be faster as well and add in the fact Donkeys gave Carwin a KO loss not too long ago I predict it will be the same result.

Prediction: Donkeys via KO

"1 8 1" Kenji Okabe vs. Ramazan Temel 170lbs

Okabe is an odd fighter, he has literally some of the best skills in boxing, wrestling and a red belt in ju jitsu but his Muay Thai absolutely sucks and most of his losses have come from being tied up in a clinch and not being able to do much about it. Most of his wins a via decision and he can lay on you or box to you death and get a decision, he has wins via submission and (T)KO as well but decision is the most common. Temel is a very well rounded individual, and he has a smart manager behind him in Sean McDonnel so look for a smart game plan coming into the fight and a well executed fight from Temel. I think he will mix it up with clinching and striking from the clinch and this will lead him to a decision as Okabe has been tough to finish.

Prediction: Temel via UD

Predictions for the undercard

Vlad Impaler vs. Ronald "The Butcher" McDonald – Vlad Impaler via submission

"Crazy" Joe Gallo vs. "The Experiment" Sven S Svensson – Svensson via UD

Vincent "Mad Dog" Coll vs. Leonidas "The Phenom" Sheynauvah – Sheyanuvah via TKO

Begbie Franco vs. Jinhai Yoshida – Franco via UD

"The Deity" Angelos Bellanova vs. Dennis "Ares" Oppelaar – Bellanova via UD

Be sure to check the fights out on the 6th and start the smack talking, that all from me

Until next time
