After losing his debut fight and two fights being cancelled due to opponents not making weight, Landon Barca (1-1) finally lands in the win column after defeating Pim Kanajawan in 30 seconds by way of submission with a Kimura at NEX Hilo 6.
The road to this fight was a frustrating one for Barca. He was set to make his debut at NEX Sydney 2, but his bout was ruled a No Contest when his scheduled opponent missed weight. Barca ended up booked on NEX Sydney 3's card, but again his fight was called off due to his opponent missing weight.
"I was annoyed and frustrated to tell the truth, but in the end is afforded me the opprotunity to get more training in," said Barca.
Pim Kanajawan (2-1) was coming into NEX looking to have a successful debut in the organization after winning his two first professional bouts via Head Kick Knockouts in the first rounds of both fights.
"When I found out Pim was booked as my opponent, I felt as if I was going to have a tough road ahead of me."
Barca submitted Kanajawan moments after the fight began. Kanajawan began with kicks to setup a clinch. Barca got a takedown in that clinch that led to the submission victory.
Barca will be traveling back to his base in Sydney and will look to get back in the gym in hopes of getting another fight soon.
