Post Olympcs Interview

Fighter profile of Vanilla Ice Cold by Aylib 2.0

We caught up with Vanilla Ice on this trans-American flight and asked him to share his
thoughts on the recent developments, as the fighter alternated between icing his shins
and knuckes, to answering what looked like a million texts and messages.

I tell you what, this is surreal. Only a few weeks ago I was not even considered to the Olympics- i was offered Mr. Azure, and I asked for an extension on training, as I wanted to prepare for that beast of a man. I was told that Mr. Azure will be entering the Olpymics, so our fight would have to happen post-Olypics.
I was cool with that, so I was just training to face him at 135, when I guess something must have fallen through with Ascencion's 145 original entrant, and either Scottie or I think it was Luan Dovik, asked me if I wanted to enter the Olypics...my reply to thim was word for word: "bring on the midget." I mean, I knew there was a good chance I would run into Loompa. I know that others had their doubts about me until the very end, whenI bit into that gold medal, but I believed in my ability, and I trusted in my camp.

Q: So, it's a Cinderalla story to everyone but you?

Ice: Yeah, pretty much. I mean, everyone dangled from Loompa's ballsack on that podcast and the man himself said he didn't know who I was. I just had to chuckle at all of that.
Same with the gold medal game, I guess they figured I squeezed by somehow, but again, reading the media Matt Miller was like a -400 heading into our fight.

Q: Whas was the mindset in youe camp during the Olympic run?

Ice: Well, the fighters I faced were quite a bit different from one another, and we had to adjust our game plan, but in terms of psychological mindset--my trainers an I knew it would be difficult, but we never doubted that I would come out the victor. My trainers told me to believe in myself, they told me that if I don't show anyone
too much respect like I had a tendency of doing earlier in my career-- they said I'd be a force to recon with.

Q: What was your take on your second round, as the outcome was described as "shocking", among other things.

Ice: I really don't know why that was shocking. I mean, yeah, the guy was a household name, but I would say that along with his impressive record his mouth got him a lot of publicity.

Q: Explain, if you don't mind.

Ice: All the press conferences, the Twatter account that he has, I mean the guy is visibile. I don't mean this in a negative connotation, not at all-I think he is good for the sport, but I think he also needs to re-evaluate his approach to things. He is living a rockstar lifestyle. Don't publish this, but I was reading his interview heading into tonight's fight,
and he is still talking about fucking all them hoes, partying like a rock star...The dude was on a roll, but as of late, he has hit some rough times, and I think he might benefit from switching camps, I think his trainers are letting him down. They need to sit his ass down and break it to him; he must have too many yes-men around. I don't know...
obviously the dude's got talent, and in order for him to avoid becoming a has been, he needs to do some soul searching.

Q: Did it rub you the wrong way when he was quoted as saying he didn't know who you were?

Ice: I mean, I knew that was part of his persona, but I did share it with my team, that I was aiming to knock his ass out, as I saw him as a mouthpiece, someone like Connor McGregor. Looking back at it now, I can't help but chuckle. I have no ill will towards the guy; like I said, he is good at keeping the audiences interested, an if he does so at my expense-- I can definitely tolerate a verbal jab here and there.

Q: What was your corner telling you inbetween rounds in tonight's fight?

Ice: It was pretty much business as usual--stay focused, stay agrressive.

Q: Were you intimidated by Miller's wrestling?

Ice: I wouldn't say intimidated. I watched his last fight with Karmak, and the post-fight interview left a lasting impression on me; I knew he would come in relying on counter-takedowns while peppering me with some shots here and there. I'm good enough on the ground to not be deathly afraid of going to the mat, which allowed me to play my game. Going into the fight
I had the mindset that he would be aggressive on the ground, and I would look for submissions, if the opportunities presented themselves, but I know that my definitive advantage was on the feet,so I tried to keep the fight standing.

Q: You were quite wordy post-fight, to the point that the mic had to be wrestled away from you.

Ice: Yeah (laughs)...this was my time to shine. I stayed away from the media, and even though I was always the underdog, there was a definite sense of relief. Myself andmy coaches had the goal of earning gold, and when the moment actually arrived, I was overjoyed, with all that talk. I basically wanted to share my appreciation for my teammates and those
who believed in me, it means a lot.

Q: What was that you were saying about Loompa?

Ice: I just wanted to return the favor and introduce myself to him. Really, though, I want to talk to him and see if I can persuade him to change camps.

Q: Is there anything else you want to add, I'm not going to cut you off.

Ice: Just want to congratulate all of those participating in this event, and thanks to those that made it happen. I think I already babbled on for too long. I'm ecstatic and just want to
sit back and take it all in.
