Troids Next Top Fighter!

Editorial by Grant Brophy

Last week, Troid Owner Grant Brophy made a blockbuster announcement. Troid will be running a 145lbs Creation Tournament, with one of the biggest prizes of all time on the line! We bring you our live reporters updates on the Press Conference that was called together for this!

*Grant Brophy steps up to the podium, wearing a crisp made-to-measure suit*

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I have called this press conference together, to make an announcement regarding Troid. While working at Troid, we always try to come up with solutions and ideas on how to make our organisation more competitive, friendly and client focused. It was while pondering these, that I decided to create a league tournament, with unprecedented prizes involved!"

"Starting on Friday the 18th of July, all managers taking part in this will enter an amateur fighter into the tournament. From then, they will have 4 weeks to train, in any gym they wish, in any country they wish. Our only requirements are:

- They make it to London in time for their fight

- They can make the weight cut for 145lbs

Now, I have spoken regarding the prizes involved, but I have not said what they are. Well, I can now announce that Troid will be giving away, not only $1.75m in Prize Money, and not only 21 months of FREE VIP to the top 3 fighters in the league, but a GUARANTEED TITLE SHOT whenever the winner wants it, with 2 weeks notice, AND the winner will receive an Entry into the Troid Hall of Fame! Now, so far we have 14 people entered into this tournament, and I am hoping to have more join before Friday. We are aiming to have 20 people involved, so we can fill a whole card with nothing but this tournaments fighters."

"We already have some recognisable names taking part, such as Comte, ScoobySkyline3 and SteelPenn, but we hope to get more of the best, and most recognisable, managers involved, to make this tournament as big as it can get. We hope to have a lot of banter and smack talk between everyone involved, and most importantly, for everyone taking part to enjoy the experience. Each fighter will face everyone in the league once, meaning as of right now, they will be having 13 fights each. This could create legends in the division, give people a springboard from which they can elevate their career. It also gives some of the newer managers a chance to take on some of the best in the business, and we hope to see the participation levels increase before the deadline"

*Grant Brophy then clears his throat and says he will have a quick Q+A regarding the tournament from reporters*

R: Hi Mr Brophy, Jesse Adams here from Tycoon Times, I just wanted to know how you feel about running this, in a time where creation tournaments are plentiful?

GB: That is a good question, and one that I am prepared for. I noticed many creation tournaments springing up while I was developing my own idea for one. I have entered into 4 of them myself, and I am enjoying the experience. I am using that experience to try to make Troid's Next Top Fighter as enjoyable as it can be. The difference between Troids tournament, and other peoples tournaments, is that Troid has history in London, having previously been #1 before moving locations. We came back 6 months ago, and while we have enjoyed a good start, we want to climb higher. I believe that people who fight in Troid will enjoy it. The Prizes on offer help to spread the word of the tournament, since we are offering the biggest prizes of any creation tournament I am aware of at this moment. Those prizes will go to helping the manager, and the tournament will help the fighter to develop and prepare for the rigours of competitive MMA. To put it in simpler terms, the difference is that we are looking to use this for the long-term, rather than a short-term boost

R: Brett Stephens from The Sun, I just wanted to ask you a couple of question about the tournament itself. Our readers will mostly want to know, how often will fights take place, and how will the scoring work for the league?

GB: I have put an awful lot of consideration into these things, and I thought it best to let the managers decide. Fights will take place every 2 weeks on Wednesday evenings, starting with August 20th. This gives everyone plenty of time to prepare themselves, and also gives them their own platform away from the main roster to perform. The points system runs on a simple 3 pts for a finish win, 2pts for a decision win and 1pt each for a draw. Again, I left this to the managers to vote on, and it was the most popular choice.

*Grant Brophy then informs the audience that time is up for the Q&A and that he hopes everyone keeps an eye out for the tournament start*
