 - Pre-Fight Analysis by Jake Hunter -
Ladies and gentlemen, we are coming to you live from beautiful Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in Wild Bob's Bar to discuss the highly anticipated BAMMA 1 event on Saturday, August 9, 2014. We have some high powered, explosive fights on this card that will make you coming back for more! Now...the rundown of BAMMA 1.
Undercard:
Middleweight Bout - Aapo Lollo (1-0) is a young grappler out of Brazil who had a unanimous decision win against Jack Taylor (1-1) is his first career bout in the QFC. He will be facing Zaire's own, Gustavo "The Manian" Santos (1-0), who came away with a slick guillotine victory in the 1st round vs. Von Cherry (1-5) in his QFC debut. Both Lollo and Santos are expected to grapple as they are both BJJ purple belts, so expect a very technical grappling match between the two.
Heavyweight Bout - Cicero "De Leve" Santos (2-0) has remarkable boxing, but finished his last opponent Gustavo "Porrada" Santos (5-9) twice with back-to-back submission victories. He will be facing Cain Dos Santos (0-0), who will make his pro MMA debut. "De Leve" is expected to come away with victory with his superior striking, but Dos Santos will look to weather the storm and come away with the upset.
Bantamweight Bout - Dennis Striker (1-1) is a superb wrestler who is coming off of a submission loss to Shawn Braxton (3-1). He is looking to rebound off of that loss against Ale "The Bee" Jarod (0-1) who lost his MMA debut vs. Brandon Small (1-1) via unanimous decision. Striker is the favorite to win this bout due to the fact that he is a superior wrestler and will look to grind out a win again Jarod.
Bantamweight Bout - Marelo De La Natal (0-0) is a BJJ purple belt and seeks to make his MMA debut against Cokorda Raka (1-1) who lost his last bout via unanimous decision vs. Magomed Guseinov (2-1). Raka will have the experience advantage in this fight, but De La Natal will look to pull out a submission win. Expect this fight to go to the ground and stay there the majority of the bout.
Middleweight Bout - Mike "The Snake" Lee (2-0) looks to maintain a perfect record and possesses two 1st round submission wins in his pro MMA career. But, he may not be able to submit his opponent, BJJ brown belt Nich DiMagg (1-1) who is coming off of a unanimous decision victory. Mike Lee has the advantage in the striking department and will look to keep this fight standing in order to come out the victor against a superior grappler in DiMagg.
And now, for the main card of BAMMA 1!
Heavyweight Bout - Kicking off the maincard is Chris "The Janeiro Fighter" Denninho (1-0) who came away with a devastating highlight reel KO victory in his MMA debut. Denninho's wonderful boxing is a crowd pleaser and should be something to watch out for in the heavyweight division. Facing Denninho is Chico "Beatdown" Guillerme who came away with a 35 second TKO victory in his MMA debut. This is a powerful matchup that should deliver fireworks. Expect one fighter to come away with a finish as this is expected to not go the distance.
Welterweight Bout - Decon Green (7-4) brings in the most experience of any fighter on the BAMMA 1 fight card. The Barbarian FC veteran possesses 3 Fight of the Night bonuses. His last bout vs. Luka Mrtic (6-3-1) was a TKO loss due to a cut, but Green still earned a FOTN bonus in his loss. He will have a tough test against Projekti Mies (4-1) who won his first 4 fights, but is coming off a loss to Vlad Putin (5-0) via unanimous decision. Expect this fight to be the fight of the night as both fighters will put on a display of entertainment.
Heavyweight Bout - Jackson "The Mediocre Kid" Frost (3-0) is a NFNY vet who came away with 2 KO of the Night bonuses in his time employed there. Finishing all his fights in the first round should be something to watch out for as he faces Japanese striker Kurita "Kurinchi" Kanazawa (5-4). Kanazawa is an EEA vet and will seek to come away with the upset in his BAMMA debut vs. the powerful Jackson Frost.
AND NOW, FOR YOUR MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING!
Light-Heavyweight Bout - BJJ brown belt Eric Cartman (3-1) is highly hyped here on the BAMMA roster and was awarded a main event matchup with Brutus "Ruffneck" Petrovic (2-0). This is a classic grappler vs. boxer matchup and whoever executes their game plan should be the victor in this bout. Cartman will seek a submission victory in this bout against the heavy handed Petrovic. Expect this fight to be an absolute barnburner!
