Hello, fight fans! David Morrison here with a preview of "USFC 1", the debut event from the fastest growing promotion in the Tycoon world, the United States Fighting Championship! Excitement is in the air for this one as #1 ranked Javier Martinez lays it all on the line against #5 Marcus Maclemore in a 205 pound headliner! Plenty of action for MMA fans in this one as the card is stacked with great match ups! Let’s take a look at the preliminaries:
1st Preliminary Card Fight
Ivan ElTerrible (0-2) vs. Tony Stones (1-3), 265lbs:
An exciting fight begins USFC's history as heavyweight Ivan "Grozny" ElTerrible pits his solid Muay Thai against 23 year old Tony "Rock" Stones' superior BJJ. Both men are accustomed to the finish as only one of their combined fights has made it to the judges. Each prefers to clinch up and work for takedowns, and it will be interesting to see if ElTerrible will be willingly go to the mat and work for submissions, or attempts to keep it standing and bang it out. ElTerrible's big heart and determination will be tested against the very confident Stones in USFC's first featured fight! I’d take your seats early for this historical event as the first battle looks to hold a finish for one of these young mixed-martial artists.
2nd Preliminary Card Fight
Charles Bolton (0-0) vs. Curtis Porter (1-1), 170lbs:
We move into the welterweight division for the second fight of the evening as new talent Charles Bolton debuts against wrestler Curtis Porter who is coming off of a submission victory in his last outing. Bolton looks to have the edge in the stand up and Porter may look to keep this one on the mat where the white belts will test their ground game. Both fighters come from excellent camps and this one could come down to counters as each fighter looks to defend the other's strength. Whoever imposes their will moves up in the rankings and looks to climb into the early championship picture.
3rd Preliminary Card Fight
Giott Stone (2-0) vs. Maxx Elorde (0-0), 205lbs:
The light heavyweights take center cage for our third preliminary bout of the evening as the very confident brawler Giott "McMickles" Stone looks to pick up another win against Maxx Elorde, a wonderful boxer making his MMA debut. After beginning his career with an impressive knockout victory, Stone followed up his debut with a well rounded performance that won him a decision. Elorde will look to keep it standing and show off his edge in striking. Stone may look to take the fight down, but has shown that he likes to strike as well. This is a chess match as two young fighters attempt to work their game plan and make an early statement in the 205 division.
4th Preliminary Card Fight
Sly Stallone (4-7) vs. Alberto Contador (2-0), 170lbs:
USFC's most experienced fighter, Sly "Rocco" Stallone, climbs into the cage to battle the confident wrestler, Albert Contador in this preliminary co-headliner. Contador possesses excellent wrestling, but has devastated his first two opponents with stand up, knocking them both senseless with an aggressive style of striking. Though inexperienced, Contador has already proven that he can finish fights and looks to continue to rise in the world rankings. He will face the biggest challenge of his career this Thanksgiving when the experienced Stallone enters the cage. After beginning his career 3-1, Stallone has dropped six of seven and has struggled with his ground game. However, his willingness to stand and trade makes for an exciting match up, and Stallone may have an advantage should the fight go the distance as all of his victories have come by way of decision. A lot rides on the line for both fighters as Contador looks to continue to rise into title contention and Stallone looks to get back into the win column. A great match up for MMA fans!
5th Preliminary Card Fight
Psycho Chris (1-0) vs. Chad Mendeez (0-0). 170lbs:
The preliminary headliner stays in the welterweight division as #4 ranked Psycho Chris brings his knockout power into the cage against new fighter Chad Mendeez, another fighter debuting at USFC 1. Chris scored an early knockout in his debut in which he overwhelmed his opponent, but much is still to be determined about both of these fighters. Expect fireworks as similar styles face off, each with solid management behind them. Tune in to see which fighter developed the game plan that puts him one step closer to the top.
1st Main Card Fight
Walter Jeremiah (1-0) vs. Wallace Dandy (1-0), 170lbs:
We kick off the main card as top welterweight prospect Wallace "The Lion" Dandy squares off against #5 ranked Walter Jeremiah. Jeremiah, a confident boxer, looked impressive in his debut earlier this month, setting up a rear naked choke off of his striking. Dandy, a determined counter fighter, also looked good in his opening fight, showing an active ground game after connecting with his strikes. In another bout featuring young fighters with experienced management, look for the game plan to an important part of the outcome. With two hungry, new fighters looking to make an early championship run, this match up has Fight Of The Night potential. Be in your seats early for this one as the action is sure to be non-stop from the opening!
2nd Main Card Fight
Cody Walker (1-0) vs. Jeff Marks (0-0), 265lbs:
#3 ranked heavyweight Cody "Twister" Walker will bring excellent boxing skills and heavy hands into the cage against Jeff Marks, who is an excellent boxer, as well. Walker showed impressive power in his debut against Tony Stones with a one shot knockout in round one. Look for a stand up battle as both fighters are BJJ white belts with limited wrestling experience. These guys are going to swing for it and both should have their chins tested. Look for another Award Of The Night candidate as either a knockout or slug fest is expected in this evenly matched fight.
3rd Main Card Fight
Corey Parker (2-0) vs. Great Bloodsport (0-1), 265lbs:
Our final heavyweight fight of the evening pits #2 ranked Corey "Punishment Walk" Parker against Great Bloodsport, a fighter known for his big heart after debuting against against a more experienced fighter while signed with Vahalla: New York, and then taking on a top title contender in his first fight with the USFC. Parker possesses excellent wrestling skills, but it has been his fists that have finished his first two opponents. Showing both boxing skill and dangerous ground and pound, Parker looks comfortable wherever the fight goes. This fight looks to be another Fight of The Night candidate as both possess the same skill sets and are willing to fight standing or on the ground. This one is a toss up, sure to be a back and forth war, with the winner making a claim to challenge for USFC's heavyweight crown.
Co-Main Event
Little Guy (3-0) vs. Knule Jones (2-1), 205lbs:
Our co-headliner features #2 ranked heavyweight Little Guy vs #6 Knule Jones. Guy, managed by Lenny McLean (32-0, 31 KO), has made short work of his first three opponents by clinching up and delivering heavy leather from the inside. With a solid wrestling base and knockout power, Guy looks ferocious as he he smothers and bullies his opponents. He will face a stiff challenge at USFC 1 as he takes on Jones, a wrestler that has knockout power of his own. Managed by Mubarak Olukotun, Jones has won two straight while showing brutal ground and pound in his last outing. Olukotun looks to hand McLean his first loss in the Tycoon world, as McLean eyes a perfect run towards a championship. It is a match up of top prospects and managers with an historical winning streak and title shot in the balance. The winner will have a close eye on the outcome of the main event as the title picture becomes clearer at light heavyweight.
Main Event
Javier Martinez (2-1) vs. Marcus Maclemore (1-0), 205lbs:
Are you ready for this one, ladies and gents?! USFC's first main event matches #1 ranked Javier Martinez against #5 ranked Marcus "Marvelous" Maclemore in a bout to determine who will fight for the light heavyweight belt! Martinez is an exceptional wrestler and cardio machine whose two wins have come by way of vicious ground and pound. After his first three fights at Valor, the hype began to build around Martinez as many compared him to a young Tito Ortiz. The undefeated Maclemore will look to put and end to the hype behind Martinez and stake his own claim to the title shot with a dangerous striking game that finished his first opponent in dramatic fashion. Maclemore likes to fight on the outside, but is extremely accurate from the clinch should Martinez wish to trade from the inside. Martinez is the more experienced BJJ fighter, but will be looking to finish Maclemore with strikes should the fight hit the mat. Strategy and counter predictions look to be a factor as both fighters come from experienced management. The anticipation is building for this one as the winner remains at the top of the rankings, poised for a title fight. A championship buzz has surrounded this contest as top managers square off in another eliminator bout on this stacked card. Will Martinez dominate in a ground war or will Maclemore light him up with punches? It's finally going to be settled in the cage as the these two warriors step in seeking the Knockout of The Night bonus en route to a title fight!
